I have this really cool coin acceptor unit I ... found... and I keep showing it to my students hoping I'll find the one who wants to make some kind of vending machine for 'zines or math equations or something.

They always want to do bake sales to raise money for their clubs and every teacher hates getting stuck on bake sale duty. Let's make a contraption to make money instead. I'll gladly stay after school to do THAT.

Hopefully this year I'll find the right kids for the project.

I decided to find out if any progress had been made on the science behind why some ants are attracted to electrical fields. After filtering out exterminators (it's so demoralizing to search for information on creatures you love and find nothing but people who know nothing about them boasting about how they will kill them all) I found what looked like a blog. But, who the heck is "James Brown"? Never heard of the dude. Maybe he could be my new friend if he likes ants enough to blog about them!

@BeAware IMO fedi has a huge moderation advantage over other platforms (like the ability to defederate). Doesnt X not even allow you to block other people?
But yeah even with all that, there is still a ton of problematic content. Once I saw some spam offering to sell hard drugs on here.
Plus lot of the racism, bigotry, etc, can be very subtle and not always immediately obvious; there's more of it than some people think

Alex Jones was born in 1974... He's... so much younger than I thought! I thought he was two decades older than me but it's less than one.

Some things age you, I suppose.

(ETA: a photo... he's not just "gen X" he's a late gen Xer. borderline Millennial. )

(ETA 2: He made a lot of his fortune, which he isn't paying out to the victims of his attacks... selling HEALTH PILLS. They obviously don't work!)
