this is mars’s moon phobos eclipsing the sun. this is what passes for a total solar eclipse there. second-rate planet. just sad

@ElleGray Luna is freakishly large, likely because she's debris of extrasolar planet Theia impacting proto-Earth 4.5 billion years ago. this collision could also explain Earth's strong geomagnetism and certain elements that should only be in the outer solar system.

i like to think a moon large enough to eclipse the Sun, despite being incredibly rare, is a common symbol among alien cultures. there's a solar eclipse happening on another planet somewhere, and maybe they are just as amazed at their luck as we are.
