I love the community here; people discuss stuff, sometimes robustly, but aren't just chanting the party line.
There're definitely topics and regions lacking (Africa), but I've learn't way more interesting stuff.
Opinion changed: Astrophysics and insects - ants in particular.
I find myself walking down the road trying not to step on the little buggers! (h/t @alexwild @futurebird )

Normally I take the bus. It takes 40min, but since it’s rush hour it would take 65min. So, I’m walking to the subway. When my leg was injured I’d have no choice but to be late — the subway is too far and too many stations aren’t accessible.

The major avenues into the city are like parking lots. Millions of New Yorkers leave hours early to avoid rush hour. My work is less than 3 miles away but it might as well be on another planet.

If not congestion pricing then WHAT will ya’ll do?

Journal article by GEORGINA SANTOS (University of Oxford) 2008 London Congestion Charging Traffic congestion is a textbook example of an externality and therefore calls for some government intervention if efficiency is to be achieved. Simple as road pricing may sound, it has seldom been adopted as a real world policy. With the exception of Singapore, which in 1975 implemented the first such measure, no other examples were to be found until February 2003, when London introduced a congestion charge for the privilege of driving in the central area. Many towns and cities around the world have been observing the case with interest. Stockholm implemented its own version of road pricing in 2007, and San Francisco is currently entertaining the idea. The New York State Assembly was considering congestion pricing for New York City but rejected it in April 2008. The last sentence about New York highlighted.

    How early? AltaVista was, for a while, brilliant. Perhaps the job was easier then, prior to the 'dot com' boom, because the web was full of pretty much only real content.
