Tends to soil, plants and various animals on a small farm somewhere in the hills of Kodaikanal, India. Rides a 2008 Royal Enfield Thunderbird everywhere.

No ideologies, handful labels. Friend to life in all shapes and forms.

Expect photos, anecdotes and rants about living off-grid in middle of nowhere with occasional motorcycle rides.

A misty morning after months!

As the wind dies down, the smoke from smoldering logs around the hill settles into the valley, forming a thick cloud. This is the 4th day we'll be breathing smoke all night. It clears up when wind picks up again in the day.

All because slash and burn agriculture is still a thing and humans are #&%§∆.

😂😭

Why's there so much smoke?

The darkness of night makes is easier to spot:

Zoomed in frame of silhouettes of trees on a hill ridge against orange glowing smoke behind.

Heh, I had not touched my big camera for months. But had to pull it out of hibernation to get these shots, mobile camera cannot be able to 😬

Took a few quick shots without much attention to quality, didn't feel like standing in the smoke outside.

Now that it's out, will use it more :)

Found some old photos from 2021 in the spare memory card that I had not formatted for years!

This friend is a resident on my farm.

@jeffowski jokes aside, this is one of the more liberating realisations one can have about oneself 😬

The peach tree is ripening a handful fruits at a time, and I'm loving finding these treats every few days.

The web is dead to me. Managed to keep the thousands of ads at bay for years but now the "consent" and newsletter popups and the non existence of "reject" button, instead several misleading steps to just look at a paragraph or two of text doesn't seem worth my time.

And even if I jump through the artificial hoops, there's no guarantee that a human wrote the text

Either I'll build agents to fetch the data I need or I'm not engaging. The concept of www is no longer fit for humans as consumers.

Looked up how tall Mullein usually grows, median answer is 6 ft, one site says up to 10 ft/ 3m.

My exuberant plant that's ~ 12ft/4m tall is looking down and laughing. Will save the seeds and share around. Heh, I love the idea of thinking of plants as Earth's middle finger to entropy that rules rest of the universe.

Reference photo for height, I'm 5'10 and barely as tall as the shortest stalk at the base of the taller stalk.

@faab64 thank you, it is a wild and medicinal plant and seems to grow in many climates around the world.

punches everyone involved in "not now" buttons

What? I should stop? But you can learn more about why I'm punching your face!

What? No? That's not an option, how about we pick this up when I feel like punching your face again? Good? Good!

What is something you have learned you wish you could have told your younger self... but, you also know your younger self would never believe you?

Here are mine:

  • Even if you are a smarty pants you still need to study, probably a lot.
  • Brush your teeth twice a day. Not once. TWICE.
  • The few things about your appearance you have (some) control over are not very important in romance.
  • No, you really do need to sleep.
  • Don't just study what's hard & impressive study what fascinates you.

@futurebird excellent ones! A few abstract ones for my past self:

  • You'll get far on sheer luck - you only need to show up, again and again.
  • Failure is subjective - getting back up for more is a skill worth developing.
  • Nothing and nobody is permanent, and that's the greatest gift the universe offers after existence.
