@rahmstorf If I feel sad watching this unfold as a regular person, I can’t imagine what being a scientist and being consistently ignored while you’re trying to warn politicians and journalists about the impending doom on human survival must feel. It’s all a tragedy, and I feel for scientists. I’m sorry. I don’t know what to say. 😞

Is everyone aware that unless we stop soon, below 2 degrees C, increasing parts of the global land areas will become too hot to live, so that many hundreds of millions will have to move to cooler, higher latitudes?

@rahmstorf Reading all the climate news and studies I’m getting eco-anxiety. I think the only way I see to deal with it is accepting our fate and prepare for the worst 😞 It is so hard to see how less is done while problems arise everywhere. How can one stay positive? I’m sorry, I’d love to have more hope, but I find it extremely difficult.

The Fediverse isn't just sharing links to other platforms, it goes a lot deeper than that. Fediverse discussions and interactions happen across multiple platforms. This happens so seamlessly, you may not even realise it is happening.

For example, I replied to a PeerTube account's post from Mastodon, and my reply appeared on PeerTube (see screenshots).

The significance of the recent announcement is people on Mastodon etc will be able to interact seamlessly with Ghost blogs.

@FediTips @namelivia In the same way a video on PeerTube becomes a post with a video on Mastodon, a playlist could be rendered as a thread of posts with videos. It will all depend on the ingenuity of developers to adapt the content to the different presentations. If you think deeply about it, the underlying content types are the same (a text/post, an image, a video, a comment, a like) what changes is how they’re presented.

    The retro community is very welcoming, and helpful. There are a ton of channels out there (like Adrian's Digital Basement) with really good info and tips. I hope you have a great time repairing and using old computers. Cheers!

    @vampiress @jonnypencils If you're up for a challenge, you can assemble your own C64 from a reproduction C64 pcb: https://www.tindie.com/products/bobsbits/sixtyclone-commodore-64-replica-pcbs/
    It's time consuming, and getting everything yourself can be complicated, but it's very rewarding in the end. Other than the components, you'll need an empty C64 case with keyboard. A warning: it may be more expensive than just buying a working C64. I did it just for the journey and the satisfaction. 😄
