Ich müsste zwar im Einzelfall nachrecherchieren, aber Spiegel und die anderen selbsternannten Qualitätsmedien haben doch die ganze Zeit die Nebelkerzen-Sprüche von CDU/CSU/FDP/FW/AfD wiedergegeben, ohne sie als Schwachsinn und gelogen zu entlarven. Und jetzt tun sie so scheinheilig: "Die Populisten, schlimm, wie konnte das nur passieren?"

The gloves come off: UK foreign minister Cameron says Ukraine can use British weapons inside Russia.

This is an important announcement, because the Storm Shadow missiles have a range of 550 km, bringing many Russian military targets within striking range, including targets in Moscow.

Sorry, but no. In order for Storm Shadow to reach Moscow the plane carrying it must come from the Western Ukraine, where these planes are currently stationed, right to the Russian border. This would expose it to Russian air defenses and most probably you would get -1 plane instead of fireworks in Moscow. The planes have to shoot the missiles from a secure distance from the front line making their effective strike range much, much shorter than the "official" one.

@randahl These missiles don't fly in a straight line either. ;)

But yes, it is definitely good news that Ukraine can finally strike targets in Russia proper with an appropriate weapon. I hope we will see first strikes soon and all the talks about red lines, escalation and dragging the NATO into a war with Russia will be over.
