Progressive African American journalist fired for pro-Palestine stance ( www.workers.org )

The Hill’s firing of Gray was in retaliation for an interaction between her and Yarden Gonen, whose sister was allegedly taken hostage during the al-Aqsa Flood. Throughout the interview, Gray calmly and cordially disagreed with Gonen, who was espousing Islamophobic and anti-Arab bigotry, as well as repeating the debunked...

Last month Max Alvarez fired Chris Hedges from the Real News Network over his interview with Dennis Kucinich. The interview with Congressional candidate Dennis Kucinich that was removed from The Real News site and led to the termination of my show.

For those who don’t remember Scott Ritter:

Biden told Ritter that no matter how thorough the inspections, the only way to eliminate the threat was to remove Saddam Hussein. […] “You and I believe, and many of us believe here, as long as Saddam is at the helm, there is no reasonable prospect you or any other inspector is ever going to be able to guarantee that we have rooted out, root and branch, the entirety of Saddam’s program relative to weapons of mass destruction. […]

Hussein, it turned out, did not have an active WMD program.

During questioning, Biden mocked Ritter as “ol’ Scotty boy” and suggested that his demands — that the international community compel Iraq to cooperate with inspectors — if met, would give Ritter the unilateral authority to start a war in Iraq. Biden argued that such decisions belonged to higher-level officials. “I respectfully suggest they have a responsibility slightly above your pay grade, to decide whether or not to take the nation to war,” Biden said. “That’s a real tough decision. That’s why they get paid the big bucks. That’s why they get the limos and you don’t. I mean this sincerely, I’m not trying to be flip.”

This guy seems to be on the new world order grift https://www.trevorloudon.com/about/

Trevor Loudon is an author, filmmaker and public speaker from Christchurch, New Zealand. For more than 30 years, he has researched radical left, Marxist and terrorist movements and their covert influence on mainstream politics.

Trevor Loudon’s thesis is that what is commonly regarded as mainstream political policy is in fact driven and guided by hidden subversive elements. The Democratic Party’s consistent defunding of the US military, Medicare for All, the Iran Nuclear Deal, normalization of relations with Cuba, Islamic refugee re-settlement, $15 minimum wage, fracking bans, pipeline shutdowns and the push for open borders policies are all consistent with communist and Islamist agendas.

Trevor Loudon believes that these forces must be exposed and countered, as America’s continued role as a bastion of freedom is pivotal for the future of western civilization.

I finally took a moment to decipher what The Conversation is. It’s a place for American (and occasionally other Global North) academics to publish articles. It’s funded by public & private universities and a variety of oligarch endowments.

Yeah it’s interesting. Notably it seems to consciously exclude the private ivy league schools and the private STEM/military-industrial complex schools like MIT & Stanford.

So I was just doing a bit of research about some science advancements in graphene processors, as I heard about it in a segment about China's recent research breakthroughs. I did some googling and found... let's say a slightly biased perspective (Just kidding, it's straight up propaganda)...

My wife works in educational research. The other day she discovered a couple of huge, cross-country studies on primary & secondary math education, one of which is ongoing as a decades-spanning study, following changes over time.

In summary: Burgerland math education it abysmal compared to China’s. It’s completely flipped from the racist tropes we’re told: that Chinese students just learn by rote and don’t develop a deeper understanding. It’s actually the complete reverse: that’s how Burgerland students are taught. Chinese students are taught to & expected to figure out solutions to problems with much less hand holding, while Burgerland students are practically hand-fed solutions.

She was relaying to me some summary she read about Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMMS). The other large study she became aware of is Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA).

All I know is Michael Parenti wrote The Assassination of Julius Caesar: A People's History of Ancient Rome, but I haven’t read it.

Somewhat relatedly, last year Michael Hudson published The Collapse of Antiquity: Greece and Rome as Civilization’s Oligarchic Turning Point. He’s working on a book about the middle ages now.

davel ,
@davel@lemmygrad.ml avatar

Right, Hudson covered the transition away from debt jubilees in his pre-Roman-era book, …and forgive them their debts: Lending, Foreclosure and Redemption — From Bronze Age Finance to the Jubilee Year

Clean Slate debt cancellations (the Jubilee Year), used in Babylonia since Hammurabi’s dynasty, first appear in the Bible in Leviticus 25. Jesus’s first sermon announced that he had come to proclaim it. This message – more than other religious claims – is what threatened his enemies, and why he was put to death.

This interpretation has been all but expunged from our contemporary understanding of the phrase, “…and forgive them their debts,” in The Lord’s Prayer. It has been changed to “…and forgive them their trespasses (or sins),” depending on the particular Christian tradition that influenced the translation from the Greek opheilēma/opheiletēs (debts/debtors). On the contrary, debt repayment has become sanctified and mystified as a way of moralizing claims on borrowers, allowing creditor elites and oligarchs the leverage to take over societies and privatize their public assets, especially in hard times.

Historically, no monarchy or government has survived takeover by creditor elites and oligarchs (viz: Rome). In a time of increasing economic and political polarization, and a global economy deeper in debt than at the height of the 2008 financial crisis, …and forgive them their debts shows what individuals, governments, and societies can learn from the ancient past for restoring economic and social stability today.

Never heard of him. He’s a career fascist. https://books.google.com/books/about/The_Antifa.html?id=okhzzgEACAAJ

Jack Posobiec is a former Navy intelligence officer who specialized in the Communist Chinese Party and is now a Senior Editor for Human Events - a leading outlet of populist conservative thought. Posobiec's work has directly led to Antifa arrests and convictions and has been cited by members of Congress, the Senate, and the President of the United States. Posobiec appeared in court in the trial of an Antifa criminal who attacked him in the street while conducting interviews.
