My mother got her MSc. more than 50 years ago. She was a sort of a pioneer as she run climate models on computers. I remember we had (that were unfortunately lost in a flood many years ago). She has found a a few weeks ago. I remember back when I was a kid I wanted to build a system to read it. It may become an interesting project…

I got a new toy today, an 33 IOT. In a few minutes I set up a Bluetooth connection with my phone, it’s a brilliant little thing!

I have mounted 4 phototransistors on a flat cable. Still 5 to go. This takes forever…

The work fine. This base should keep them aligned properly for the punched tape reader. Let's hope my printer is not going to die while printing this one .

I haven't used my 3D printer (a Prusa i3) for a few years. It turns out I had every possible issue (clogged extruder, connexion problems...)

The first tests are encouraging. I still have to a proper light source, but the phototransistors get some light through the holes of the punched tape even with a table top lamp.

@futurebird nice! We used to have a few hundreds of punch cards, too, but they got lost in a flood in 2000, unfortunately.
