Listening to Seal II for the first time, and finally getting to “Kiss from a Rose” in the middle of the album feels like running into the room to belt out “5 GOLDEN RINGS”.

Bring It On is my favorite, but I used to blast that album.

@sollat It’s a great opener!

Okay since I’m now catching up on Tommy (after listening to Hommy), what are some other concept/rock opera albums I need to listen to?

Okay, so, like, this is the first album I've ever listened to. I honestly didn't know until he died that was also actually in bands. I must've heard them before at some point, I just didn't know the connection. Wtf, RIP, tattoo the names of the dead on your hands, etc. etc.

@buffyleigh This might be the first Albini post that doesn't pretend to already know everything he ever did. Thank you.

A friend of mine asked me if I was a fan and I told him the truth: I'm a fan of the maybe eleven records I'm familiar with. The rest, maybe I'll get around to them someday.

@other_ghosts I'm sure a couple people on here know everything (there are a LOT of music nerds here), but, like, the guy has over 1400 credits listed on Discogs! Also, part of the joy of being a music nerd is going down rabbit holes and finding out about all the random connections, at your own pace. There's no exam, so I'm not cramming...

KEXP is playing "Waterfalls" which reminded me of my weirdest concert experience: hearing (but not seeing) an entire TLC show from my balcony. They played a (very overpriced) festival in a sports field in the river valley across from our building, and the wind blew just right so the sound reached the back of the building quite nicely. Slayer played the same festival and we kinda sorta were able to see some of it standing on the top of a hill. 🤘

Anyone else seen/heard a cool show for free?

buffyleigh OP ,

@sollat Cool! I don't think I ever won free tickets to anything...except to see the movie "North" when it came out, lol (which I think literally no one else ever saw).

buffyleigh OP ,
@buffyleigh@mas.to avatar

@sollat I had never even heard of that movie, lol!

I keep looking at this review blurb on the back of the book I'm reading, and either I don't understand don't how stilettos work, or the reviewer doesn't:

"These volumes slip in like a stiletto and do their work once inside."

What is the one CD you wouldn't be mad about if it got permanently stuck in your car's stereo?

Or, if you don't drive/have a car/have a stereo that plays physical media, what single album would you be happy to listen to over and over whenever you commute, if for some reason you could only access one album on your device when in motion?

@RolloTreadway Ooo, I gotta check it out then.
