The people of the future will read about millions of non-electric cars and trucks driving around in dense urban centers huffing fumes with the same horror we now feel reading about all the places we used to put asbestos— or the way they used to make dresses and ribbons of celluloid: in an era when there were fireplaces and candles all over the place.

@futurebird for a within-a-lifetime example, every time I see and smell a smoker anywhere near a restaurant or bar I’m shocked, then remember as a teenage busboy having to go into the smoking section to clear ashtrays along with the plates. I am hoping today’s children will feel the same way about ICE cars when they are my age.

A proposed amendment that would formally enshrine access to in 's constitution is all but certain to appear on the November ballot after a coalition of reproductive rights advocates said they have collected the required number of signatures.

In fact, the groups collected 100,000 more signatures than necessary.

@GottaLaff one thing that has been true about Colorado voters, statewide, for decades: they have consistently refused to restrict access to abortion when it’s been on the ballot. Doesn’t matter if you’re in ranching country, the big city, or anywhere in between. Doesn’t matter if the measure is on a ballot with a popular Republican candidate or not. Coloradans simply don’t want the government to place that kind of a restriction on a person.

"US hikes cost of #oil drilling on federal lands for 1st time in decades, a bid to generate more $ for taxpayers

Interior Department rule represents 1st comprehensive update to the federal oil & gas leasing program in more than 30 years. It will force oil companies to pay at least 10x more to drill on US lands — $150K up from $10K — + higher royalties...also aims to prevent taxpayers from footing the bill for cleanup of abandoned oil and gas wells."

@GottaLaff I’m sure oil and gas companies will moan about the price but it will make their decisions for leasing more strategic (not as many speculative leasing deals…a lot of leases never go into production) and when they do drill it’s not like $150k is going to be their top-line expense.

Ken Buck (R) on Marj Q Greene: “People have talked to her about not filing articles of impeachment on Pres Biden before he was sworn in…on not filing articles of impeachment that were groundless made on other individs in Biden admin..she was never moved by that. She was always focused on her soc media acct & Moscow Marjorie is focused now on this Ukraine issue & getting her talking pts from the Kremlin & making sure that she is popular & she is getting a lot of coverage.” https://thehill.com/homenews/house/4582430-ken-buck-knocks-moscow-marjorie-taylor-greene/

@GottaLaff it’s almost like since Buck doesn’t have to run for reelection he can say what he really wants. Yet another reason all reps should be limited to one term, maybe?

@GottaLaff maaaaybe? I don’t think he’d be able to move away from his record enough to win a senatorial or gubernatorial seat here in CO. He’d be competitive, but my guess is he’d get 30-40% in a statewide election.

The FCC says it is immediately outlawing scam robocalls featuring fake, artificial intelligence-created voices, cracking down on so-called "deepfake" technology that experts say could undermine election security or supercharge fraud -CNN

@GottaLaff now if they could do more about people spoofing my phone number aside from “fill out this report”…..I always wonder how enforcement will work in systems that have such a huge footprint.
