3½ hours? Pah, lightweight!

We were up til 6, hoping to see Truss…

The people of Norfolk have not disappointed as much as I feared: Reform only third in our NW Norfolk, but took Gt Yarmouth. Lab took three seats from Con. Greens and LibDems, one apiece. A few Con holds too.

And Truss ousted by Labour. She didn't look too happy in the video clip I watched. Several times.

11,217 people thought Liz Truss was the best person to represent South West Norfolk.

Eleven Thousand Two Hundred and Seventeen.

Labour got 630 more, Reform less than 2000 behind.

Sometimes I worry about democracy, but I'd say there at least we dodged two bullets.

I'm catching up on your journey - endlessly fascinating - and wondered if the @weirdfolks had spotted the intersection between (mentioned in one or two of your toots) and 2010s US TV series ?

Mob kingpin Carl Elias bears a striking resemblance to Thermina leader Mathesar, don't you think? Perhaps because both were played by Canadian Enrico Colantoni.

This definitely seems the place to come out as loving both film and series

All good here (commensurate with looming old age and creaking joints). Our building works are finally dragging to a close, so we actually fit into the house now! Downsizing is a necessary evil of old age: I never thought we'd move to bungalow-land but it's definitely the right thing for us right now.

Also, much less home automation kit needed in a smaller house, and sooo much cheaper to run! But can be a time-sink, can't it!?

I'm a few months behind on your journey, but closing in, so I'll say 'hope all is well' but try to avoid any spoilers whilst chatting!

From a brief catch-up, it looks the gang's all still here. I'll try to find a better balance between here and real life from now on. It's tricky: one of my, um, tics is the old completist thing - I hate thinking there's a message I haven't read or might have missed. But once you follow a few peeps, it grows exponentially, doesn't it?

And let's not mention 3D printing… I've spent a fortnight designing something to replace a broken clip on our shower riser. I suppose it might be possible to buy one online but where's the fun in that!

I replaced my old Wanhao i3 Plus with a Flashforge Adventurer 4 Pro (recon). It's the 3D printer equivalent of switching from Windows Vista to Linux Mint 21 Cinnamon (I.e. brilliant - not a downgrade, like Windows 11…)

I pretty much find the thing I need on a 3D printing site, send it to the printer and come back later to the finished article. The printer streams to Home Assistant from it's built-in camera, so I can check all is well from time to time. (1/2)

Actually designing things yourself can be a little more challenging, but I've just discovered a brilliant new piece of software that seems largely to work like I do, more like an artistic project than a technical one. I'll toot a bit more about that another time, as I'm still learning. But it's looking positive so far.

Apparently, this is (3/2)...

Here's the (almost) finished article. The snap-fit latches are doing more snapping than latching but I have a couple of ideas to fix that. The rest fits perfectly and does exactly what's needed. It was a pain to produce whilst learning the package, but it's great to have something you need and then to actually produce that thing. This might be the closest I get to feeling artistic!

Afternoon all!

Well, that was weird. Before Christmas I thought I'd take a few days away from these parts to catch up on real life. And now, here we are in July and I think it's high time I said Hello to everyone.

Nothing much has happened - the TV packed up, someone reversed into our car, Beth's Dad died - so I'm not sure why it's taken so long but, anyway, @Cbfoley's van is looking good, I'm catching up with and someone mentioned an election…? See you shortly!
