She likes to rest on this bookshelf so she can look us in the eye when we exit the shower.

She peers around the door frame. Two triangle ears and a little plaintiff face.
My husband peers around the door and he and Pica are eye to eye in a staring contest.
Pica won. She sits front paws neatly draped in front of her queen of the bookshelf.

I kind of thought Milli didn’t care about Q-Tips (cotton swabs) anymore. I was misinformed. She loves them EMBARRASSINGLY MUCH.

The neighbor’s cat is at it again. I think she’s just bored and waiting to get back in, but the birds and squirrels are annoyed. And Milli is ABSOLUTELY INCENSED.

I've started reading Piranesi by Susanna Clarke. Recently I kept thinking about this books so last week I finally acquired a copy.

Telepathical note to everyone who couldn't stop praising it in 2020 though, if you just hyped it for the sake of the collective hype, expect my negative vibes your way in the near future. :bunhd:

Bookshops & Bonedust was very enjoyable though Legends & Lattes remains my favourite between the two. That's not the reason why it took me since November to finish it, I've just fallen out of my audiobook phase and still need time to get back into it.

I find the older Viv a little more interesting still, her new life and challenges. That's why the end of B&B was actually quite satisfactory.

This weekend I'm starting a buddy read for Dostoyevsky's Notes from the Underground - a completely different read but one I'm just as hopeful of liking. I need to read The Idiot and will be done with his bigger book but I'm not ready for such a lengthy read at the moment. A nice compromise, if you will.

Starter Villain by John Scalzi was such a fun book. As in I laughed out loud several times. Also as in the time spent reading it was a true pleasure.

@bookstodon do you have recommendations for similar books? Something to take one's mind off reality, the weirder the better, and preferably no love or other serious dramatics.
