Groups are nearly finished, and the app too.

Collections and Portfolio features are getting major overhauls, with federation support.

Speaking of federation support, rumour has it that Pixelfed is working on custom domain support so you can bring your own domain to any Pixelfed instance, allowing you even more control, and a fallback in the event you need to migrate and preserve your handle/identity! 👀

@dansup would be great to have the embeds working for posts with multiple images. Right now our studio webpage is missing the majority of our posts in the embedded profile grid (as only posts with single images are displayed). Also, being prompted for a 2FA token every time I open the website is frustrating. And, having imported my Instagram posts, I can't get that data in the export or page back to the start of my posts. All of that said… I appreciate you pushing things forwards as well!

    @Gargron Question I really hope you can help me with. I have the app Still Followers for Mastodon. It did great, but recently stopped working. I've been back/forth w/ them, and they've made an earnest, lengthy effort to figure it out. Everything is fine at their end & at mine, so they said this:

    @GottaLaff I’m not familiar with the app - what is happening when you use it? I don’t know whether mastodon.social made any changes to limits but will ask. I noticed you are over the 20k followers mentioned in the other post, though. Curious to know how that app works. Mastodon generally is not just about growing followers so I’m not sure how something like that runs.

    @GottaLaff I can’t seem to get it to do much for me on my iPhone, it seems to want me to pay for something. It would be great if the code was available so I could understand what it is trying to do behind the scenes. We definitely have had a number of platform updates since February due to security patches, so I wonder if something in the improvements affected the app.

    @GottaLaff feel free - it looks like everything happens on their servers, as running the app on my Mac only shows it talking to their site, not to Mastodon directly. Honestly I don't know whether this is an app that is going beyond the API limits or not. andy at joinmastodon dot org and I'll take a look when I'm working next week if that's ok.

    does anyone know where Mastodon’s rules for exactly when a post gets put on the Home timelines of the people who follow me, and whose timeline it gets put on are documented?

    the rules can't be that every reply I make gets put on the timeline of every person that follows me, right? (??)

    Often I reply to people and they seem to get put on the timelines of a lot more people than I expected, I feel like the rules are different from Twitter's rules in a way that's confusing to me

    Back in London for day two of State of Open Con 2024. Yesterday, I was volunteering on the event crew all morning, so didn’t attend any talks, but spent a while as a “welcome bot” on the door, and room usher. That meant I had plenty of opportunities for quick chats with friends and familiar faces. In the afternoon I attended a few interesting talks, which I will probably talk about on an upcoming @linuxmatters soon.
    Today, talks the morning then I am volunteering in the afternoon 🥰
