Tedesche , to World News in In Gaza, Israel has turned water into a weapon of mass destruction

Okay, thanks for the information. That's...obviously dumb as fuck and simply adds to Israel's crimes. Didn't Nestle try to pull some similar shit somewhere?

Tedesche , to World News in In Gaza, Israel has turned water into a weapon of mass destruction

I agree the context makes the entire existence of a siege unusual here, I'm just pointing out that water and food deprivation have been used as tools of war for forever. The language used in the article—the "weaponization of water"—is meant to put a shiny new coat of paint on something ancient and make people think this is some new diabolical tactic Israel has invented on its own and that no one prior to them was barbaric enough to think of it. That's what's garbage journalism here.

Again, not defending Israel, just trying to point out sensationalist manipulative tactics on the part of this media outlet.

Tedesche , to World News in In Gaza, Israel has turned water into a weapon of mass destruction

Source? It doesn't say anything like that in the article. It mentions that 30% of Gaza's water is purchased from Israel, but that's hardly claiming that "all rainwater" belongs to Israel.

Not trying to defend Israel's actions here, but let's keep claims fact-based.

Christ, these headlines. What Israel is doing is abominable, but it's nothing new. These are siege tactics and they're practically as old as war itself.

You give off strong "I pick fights with strangers on the internet over nothing to alleviate my boredom" energy.

Tedesche , to politics in Trump ordered to pay New York Times nearly $400k in legal fees for 'frivolous' lawsuit

Yeah, he's never going to willingly pay that bill. A court will have to order the money taken from him.

Tedesche , to politics in Nikki Haley’s pretend slavery ‘gaffe’ told us what this election is about

No, I specifically said I'm not advocating that, despite the temptation.

Truly, you are a bastion of intellect.

I don't know if you want to know, but they define it in the article if you care to read it....

Tedesche , to politics in Biden Set to Avoid New Hampshire Primary Humiliation

Terrible headline. Makes it sound like Biden is chickening out of something in New Hampshire when the reality is that a Republican campaign to cast him as unable to win the state failed. So he's "set to avoid" it, because the smear campaign failed.

    Post less godawful clickbait, please.

Tedesche , to Videos in George Carlin - I Gave Up On My Species - George's GENUINE, eloquent perspective

People always frown and say I’m being cynical or pessimistic whenever I tell them I’m a misanthrope. They assume I’m bitter and I irrationally hate my fellow human. Couldn’t be further from the truth. I actually like most people I meet. I just have a very low opinion of us as a species. If you look at the track record, I’m many of the most important aspects, it’s really abysmal. We have undoubtedly accomplished many great things, but we’ve also committed uncountable horrors—and both patterns will continue—but I’m not impressed in the final analysis. In fact, I’m pretty disgusted.

Anyone interested should briefly study individual psychology vs. group psychology. Specifically, why individuals are often better problem solvers than groups. There are reasons groups tend to make worse decisions overall than individuals. In a nutshell, it’s because the loudest voices prevail in groups, not the most intelligent, educated, insightful, etc. On a grand scale, that translates to those who want power the most are the ones who wind up in the positions that wield it. And this isn’t due to any social system or set of laws or constitution; it’s due to simple human psychology.

Tedesche , to World News in Russia pardoned a murderer who put his girlfriend through a meat grinder because he agreed to fight in Ukraine, his mom says

10 years for ending someone else's life? I'm glad we have longer sentences for that here in the U.S. Don't get me wrong--I'm all for prison reform and introducing rehabilitative elements to reduce recidivism, but Europeans seem to have more concern for criminals than they do for the victims of crime.

Tedesche , to Ask Lemmy in What do you think about Lemmy, so far?

Oh, please, that's got to be the biggest false equivalence I've heard in a while now. Every single communist nation has rapidly become a dictatorship, because that's literally what's supposed to happen in the transition phase. That's totally different from real democracies being eroded by far-right extremists—and plenty of the world's democracies are still fighting those extremists and their democracies are still alive. Stop hand-waiving away these stark differences with bullshit generalizations like that.

Tedesche , to Ask Lemmy in What do you think about Lemmy, so far?

I believe I already explained that. Give me an example of a country going communist and not becoming a dictatorship.

My politics are better because they don’t result in that.
