ShittyBeatlesFCPres , to Technology in Mac users served info-stealer malware through Google ads | Full-service Poseidon info stealer pushed by "advertiser identity verified by Google."

Are there shared whitelists? It seems like something that isn’t really practical without them. I’m a web developer who has never served one ad but the front-end tools now basically export all JavaScript. You’d probably just get a blank page on any site made recently that’s more complex than a portfolio/resume page.

If she’s intimidated, she should use her experience as a CrossFit instructor and get the drag queens to lift weights as fast as possible with terrible form so they all get injured.

ShittyBeatlesFCPres , to politics in Bolivia’s president calls on country to mobilize against attempted coup after military surrounds government buildings | CNN

Apparently, that’s what the general allegedly behind it is claiming but I’m not sure I trust the word of “guy who just got arrested for leading a failed coup attempt.” But who knows?

Looks like the coup failed even faster than Trump’s and Bolsonaro’s:

It’s very complex and involves issues of race, religion, democracy, corruption, economics, etc. But in another way, it’s not complex: Bolivia is sitting on massive untapped lithium mines. Someone is going to get rich from that and whether it’s the people of Bolivia or oligarchs is why coups are tempting:

I don’t know who is backing the current coup, obviously, but I suspect few corporations or Western governments would be upset if a right wing party seizes power (again) despite losing the last several recent elections.

They actually called it a gratuity. Maybe not the worst ruling of all time but one of the most shameless.

Maybe the Technology Connections guy is an heir to the General Electric fortune. He certainly has a lot of access to old toasters. 🤔🧐

Incandescent light bulbs burned out at the speed they did because of an agreement between light bulb manufacturers to not make them better.

ShittyBeatlesFCPres , to politics in Deutsche Bank Article Among Trump's Classified Documents Raises Eyebrows

Early in her career, a friend worked for a white shoe law firm in NYC and she used to use Deutsche Bank as her reference point for corruption. Like, I’d go on my lil’ leftist rants about the 2008 financial crisis and she’d say, “Oh come on. They aren’t anywhere close to as bad as Deutsche Bank.”

I always wondered what fucked up things they had to be doing that they were officially The Worst Bank to corporate lawyers. And beyond that, the main part of a corporate lawyer’s job is litigation prevention and saying “No.” to the worst ideas. So, what did they want to do but get told it was so illegal, not even a giant international bank with teams of lawyers could get away with it.

ShittyBeatlesFCPres , to Technology in China is attempting to mirror the entire GitHub over to their own servers, users report

GitHub owner Microsoft would never engage in IP theft of source code. They leave that to OpenAI and then rebrand it as GitHub Copilot.

ShittyBeatlesFCPres , to Technology in Researchers upend AI status quo by eliminating matrix multiplication in LLMs

Someday, we’ll have the technology to generate an image of a centaur with 4 boobs without using more energy than a small hospital. Very exciting stuff.

ShittyBeatlesFCPres , to politics in Red Crescent Refutes State Department, Says Israel Never Reached Out About Hind Rajab’s Death

We’re probably never going to be able to see eye-to-eye on this since you clearly see the war as the Jewish people vs. the Palestinian people. Meanwhile, I see it is as two groups of right wing fanatics fighting each other while civilians are caught in the crossfire, at best. But to me, it looks a lot more like they’re deliberately being starved, slaughtered, and/or held hostage.

Maybe someone else on here has the time to debate a sea lion if you want to post more but it’s Taco Tuesday and I have important taco-related business to attend to.

ShittyBeatlesFCPres , to Ask Lemmy in What's your biggest gamer achievement?

When I was a kid in the 80’s and 90’s, you only owned a few games if you had an NES or SNES (or Sega equivalent) even if you rented/played a lot of them. So, I got insanely good at the few games I owned. After I beat Street Fighter II with every character on the highest difficulty, I decided to beat the game using only one button (plus the D pad, obviously). Finally did it with Chun Li and X button.

With Super Mario World, the hardest personal challenge I did was beating every level except the switch blocks. There’s a bunch of secret exits where switch blocks are supposed to be the way. It took a lot of cape+blue Yoshi shenanigans to get that one done.

Now that I’m old (or least older) and games are way longer, my biggest accomplishment is actually finding time to play a game all the way through, much less do side quests. I made time for BoTW, Horizon Zero Dawn, Nier: Automata, and Hades. But if I stop playing a game for awhile, I forget all the controls and that’s the end of that game.

ShittyBeatlesFCPres , to Ask Lemmy in What's the most stupid trend (or fad) you participated in yourself?

NFTs are digital POGs with no slammer to gamble them with. That’s way, way more stupid.
