CaptDust , (edited ) to World News in Russia Loses Last Black Sea Missile Ship

Is 40 a lot? That seems quite ambitious but I have no idea how long it takes to build one.

Edit: Russia's built ~16 of these Karakurt-class ships since 2018 lol. So no, it won't be 40 missle boats.

CaptDust , to Technology in Netflix mulls introducing free ad-supported tier. The circle is complete

Some shows we've watched spend their time "recapping" after the 'ad breaks", playing same scenes we just saw. Drives me nuts, wastes my time and feels so dated.

CaptDust , to Technology in Netflix mulls introducing free ad-supported tier. The circle is complete

Maybe they could add some kind of auto scrolling view that informs what is playing at those times? That'd be handy, sometimes I can't find anything to watch.

CaptDust , to Imaginary Dragons in The Noodle Dragons Bowl by Christina Yen (2019)

This is adorable

CaptDust , to 196 in They're Usually Shredded Alive Rule :(

I had this same question, I learned "meat" chickens are called broiler chickens, they were bred to put on weight rapidly. Egg laying chickens are separate breed and grow slower or won't grow to the size of a broiler. The industry is limited by containment footage, so they wouldn't use a male egg laying chick where they could house a broiler.

CaptDust , to Gardening in It's the middle of June, welcome to climate change growmies.

Opposite problem for me, we have 95f/35c all week. I'm used to average 75/24 around this time. It's got me worried I need to set up shades or something.

CaptDust OP , to Ohio in Woman Allegedly Stabs 3-year-old Boy to Death in Random Attack at Grocery Store Parking Lot

I think it's legally "allegedly" until proven in court. Even if there's video evidence of someone commiting a crime, police will say they are "investigating allegations" as the suspect is still innocent.

CaptDust , to politics in Here’s what the Christian right wants from a second Trump term

Ah yes, democrats are widely known for their support of christofascism. Always out there forcing their religious beliefs on society, claiming America as a birthright theocracy.

CaptDust , (edited ) to World News in A Hungarian Rapper’s Bandwagon Gets an Unlikely New Rider [Orban]

Who was the US Republican die-hard neo-lib Senator

Paul Ryan, he should never be allowed to live it down. After Tom Morello put Ryan on blast, Ryan clarified he likes the sound but hates the lyrics lmao...

CaptDust , to politics in Donald Trump gets to sidestep the consequences of his conviction. Most people with criminal records don’t

This attitude is why we still have people idolizing the Confederacy.

CaptDust , to Selfhosted in Tools and ideas for backup of many files

I use rsync with a systemd timer. When I first installed the backup drive it took a while to build the file system, but now every Monday it runs, finds the difference between source and target drive, and pulls just the changes down for backup. It's pretty quick, doesn't do any compression or anything like that.

CaptDust , to Witchy Memes in Walking down the street - Art by Smitz

First picture is giving me young I-No vibes, before she got corrupted.

CaptDust , to NonCredibleDefense in The US can't keep getting away with this! (they can)

You might have them confused with Chiquita

CaptDust , to Marvel Studios in Taylor Swift is NOT in 'Deadpool and Wolverine' (exclusive)

She's actually the only reason I was going to see it, if Taylor is out - I'm out too. Bad move Disney.

CaptDust , to A Boring Dystopia in The Curious Case Of The Underselling Arena Tours

It seems silly to believe every artist with a label can go on an arena tour. In my city arena shows used to be reserved for the biggest of the big. Now no touring bands will play smaller venues and simultaneously perplexed why fans won't show up at $200 a seat. Meanwhile the medium venues are either hosting the same local bands repeatedly, or closing.

What a conundrum.
