Putin offers truce if Ukraine exits Russian-claimed areas and drops NATO bid. Kyiv rejects it ( apnews.com )

Russian President Vladimir Putin promised Friday to “immediately” order a cease-fire in Ukraine and start negotiations if Kyiv began withdrawing troops from the four regions annexed by Moscow in 2022 and renounced plans to join NATO. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy rejected what he called an ultimatum by Putin to...

Buffalox ,

Yes Putin, that sounds very reasonable, but alternatively and I'm sure you will find this equally reasonable. Why don't you pull back to Moscow, and let Ukraine have their territory back, plus everything Russia has around the black sea?

Also Russia: Stop escalating by sending in old equipment, or we will nuke you!

I'm sure you can see where we come from, because it's the same place you are coming from. Malignant narcissistic insanity, with zero regard for human lives or reason or anything that rhymes with decency.

Buffalox ,

Dmitry Medvedev, deputy chairman of Russia's Security Council, wrote on his official Telegram channel

"Every day we should try to do maximum harm to those countries that have imposed these restrictions. Harm their economies, their institutions and their rulers. Harm the well-being of their citizens, their confidence in the future."

I sense between the lines that some high up Russians are getting tired of this war, and because it's a death sentence to criticize Putin, they lash out at those pesky foreigners. But maybe I'm over interpreting?

Hey Russia! You can stop all these problems now, all you have to do is pull out of occupied territories of Ukraine. It is really that easy!

Buffalox ,

While this is very high, it's still a huge improvement.
Best wishes to Argentina.

Buffalox ,

For things to improve, they still need a working economy, disregarding if it's a left or right wing government.

Buffalox ,

That was the previous government, The current government has reduced it first to about 8% last month, to now 4.4%.
The current administration took office in December, and obviously it takes time to make reforms. But president Javier Milei is an economist, so we can hope he can get that part working better than the previous government.

But he is a populist as you wrote, and allegedly a libertarian, so I agree Argentina may be going from one evil to another.

It's weird how South American countries often goes from one extreme to another?

Buffalox ,

Thank you, I needed a bit of optimism. 😀

Buffalox ,

That is 100% a lie, optimism is necessary to try to make change, optimism is the driver of progress.
Pessimism causes apathy.

So it's the exact opposite of what you claim.

Buffalox , (edited )

Yes VW, Audi, BMW, Mercedes are all definitely garbage. /s
Absolutely the companies that make some of the best cars in the world, should make better cars. What a moronic comment!

They are actually very attractive offerings too, I recently tried a BMW eDrive i4-40, it's an absolutely amazing car. And VW has some pretty attractive prices IMO.

Buffalox ,

The Germans have been dragging their feet on electrification

Not true, VW, Audi, BMW and Mercedes all have excellent electric cars, that are even better than Tesla now. If they aren't good enough, maybe you need a Porsche.
They are also way better than Chinese cars in general especially BYD. It's only when compared on price to subsidized Chinese cars they have difficulty competing.
The country that's behind on Electric is Japan, yet Toyota remains the #1 car manufacturer in the world.

they can’t afford a trade war with China

Generally everybody loses in a trade war. But if China subsidizes EV production, that needs to stop if they want to be part of an open market.

Buffalox , (edited )

It's very fair, Wegovy is more expensive in USA, because Americans are fatter.

Edit:
Sorry, my mistake. It's of course because USA has the best healthcare system in the world.
Except for the people who need it of course.

Buffalox , (edited )

I don't believe it's actually $90 anywhere, that must be because of some sort of subsidy.
In Denmark where Novo resides, the price is $200+ for the lowest dose. And Denmark allows parallel import if it can be bought cheaper elsewhere.

USA has a very different market, with extreme penalties in case something goes wrong, that mandates higher self insurance, and sales channels that are almost built for abuse by almost everybody. I seriously doubt Novo makes 6 times more on Wegovy than they do elsewhere. The problem is in the American system.

That said, I agree with Bernie Sanders that there's a problem that needs to be fixed.

EDIT:
$200 is for 4 doses enough for 4 weeks.
I bet the insane prices in USA, are mostly due to insurance companies and whole-sellers exploiting the lack of structure and regulation in the US system. Novo cannot take more that those are willing to pay, and if insurance chooses not to cover Wegovy, Novo sells nothing through that company. Insurance companies are in control more than anybody in USA.

Buffalox , (edited )

Oh yes, I'm not against Bernie doing this, but I wouldn't call it the system working as intended, that it's necessary.

Buffalox ,

Nononono The problem is definitely woke elitists, emigrants, LGBTQ, colored people, Jews, poor people, foreigners, and of course liberals. They are not heartland America.
The good guys are money grabbing corrupt criminals and criminal politicians, Christian fanatics, Totalitarians, Nazis and Russians.
Because how isn't that obvious??? At least that seems true to about half of America!!!

MAGA

Buffalox OP ,

If this is true, that USA is making a balancing act to prevent either side from winning, to eventually force peace talks, that’s extremely infuriating IMO. Russia 100% needs to lose outright, hat’s the best way to prevent them from trying again, but more than that, it’s the only acceptable outcome morally. The bully must not be allowed to benefit from bullying.

As he says, things are going well for Ukraine ATM, and I am pretty certain that no European guvernement share in the claimed American policy. But are actually trying to help Ukraine win.

Buffalox OP ,

Yes it's really bad in both France and Germany, I don't quite get why the extreme right is so popular? Some say economy, but I don't see any evidence that the extreme right should be good for economy, and the election also caused the Euro to drop, so finances certainly don't believe it either.
Maybe it's emigration? but don't most European countries already have pretty strict regulation to prevent emigration?
Luckily there is no support on either right or left side for Russia here (Denmark), all parties support Ukraine. So it's very hard to understand how things are so bad in many other countries?

Buffalox OP ,

People are bombarded with bad stories about migrants, but also about the government.

Same mechanisms that caused Brexit, and just like Brexit the extreme right won't benefit anybody, their policies are moronic at best or decidedly evil.
I wonder why there isn't a good counter to these propaganda lies?

Buffalox ,

He is such an asshole, feeling sorry for himself for having to pay because he ruined other peoples lives.

Buffalox ,

I agree, but whether it was fake or not, I'm certain that he feels sorry for himself, and finds it unfair that is actions should have consequences. His behavior is so psychopathic, that I would be very surprised if he isn't one.

Buffalox ,

Trump has absolutely no shame, he's a narcissist liar piece of shit. It's more like for a small bribe he would try to prevent it.

Buffalox ,

Yes, because the corrupt parts of the media of USA allow it. The way half the American media are reporting, wouldn't be legal in EU.

Buffalox , (edited )

It is, Trump is literally a malignant narcissist, sociopath and psychopath and a pathological liar. Meaning he lies to put himself in a better light, and to hurt people on purpose.

Trump is a natural in gaslighting, it's not even an effort to him. It's the way he thinks all the time.

It's absolutely insane that about half of USA support him. It's a country where a large part of the population is collectively mentally ill.

Buffalox ,

That's strange there has been talk about it for years. Russia tried to switch to Ruble, and Iran and Venezuela tried to switch away from $ USD too.

It has had near zero effect AFAIK, because nobody wants to trade in unstable currencies. Maybe Russia has been moderately successful, but at the cost of having to sell well below market prices.

Buffalox ,

China is on an insane powertrip about Taiwan, and quite frankly they can go fuck themselves IMO.
Taiwan is an independent nation, we don't have to respect China in any way in that regard. If they agree to become one nation again that's their decision, but Chinese threats of military invasion and takeover are immoral, and we should NOT accept the "One China" policy in any way that threatens Taiwans right to self determination.

Buffalox , (edited )

That's kind of the opposite, Taiwan is a de facto independent nation, Texas is not. Texas is a state in a federation it joined voluntarily, that prohibits secession. Still if they can politically negotiate independence, and the rest of USA accept that, USA shouldn't start a war later to take it back.

As you saw with EU, UK could become independent, because those are the terms when you join EU.

The split of Taiwan from China is a result of civil war, and Taiwan has been independent since 1945, that's 79 years of independence. China reluctantly accepted this because they lacked power to invade. For many years Taiwan rulers claimed to be the legitimate rulers of China, which was ridiculous, now China claims to be the legitimate rulers of Taiwan which is equally ridiculous. To restart an almost century old war against a peaceful neighbor because of some sense of entitlement is insane.

The country was split in a civil war, there is no law of nature that requires the two to be one.
It's a sick way of thinking, that you can claim sovereignty by power over an independent nation. Just because historically the borders were different.

By that logic, Denmark could claim to be rightful rulers of Ireland, UK, Norway, half of Sweden, Northern Germany, Estonia and Iceland.
It's absolute insanity for a nation to feel entitled in that way. Even if we (Denmark) could, it wouldn't be better for anybody... Except maybe UK.

Yes once Taiwan was part of China, but it isn't anymore. If Texas want independence, they'll have to work on it politically.

Buffalox ,

have thrown herself into consideration for secretary of state or defense secretary

What a moron! Whatever makes her think she would even be considered?

Within eight years, Gabbard has moved from being an ally for Bernie Sanders’ 2016 presidential campaign to a Democratic presidential candidate to a right-wing influencer who has filled in as a host on Tucker Carlson’s former Fox News show,

That kind of change can sometimes be caused by a tumor or other forms of brain damage. I'm not saying that to scorn her, but it's a very dramatic change, that could be down to some sort of brain trauma.

But of course she may also be just an opportunist, in which case she is more likely a sociopath.
For sure she is not a normal functioning person.

Buffalox , (edited )

It's funny, I thought Trump was all for sacrificing everything, NATO the environment, workers rights, social programs, actually the entire human kind by denying climate change against all evidence, just so he can annoy the Democrats. Which he calls winning.

I bet he would be all for ACTUAL child sacrifice if it could turn a profit or help get him elected...
Oh what am I thinking? Of course he is, he already support weapons in kindergartens, and to do absolutely nothing against school shootings. Because Insane Republican Christian Americans want it that way. If you are a victim in a schools shooting, it was probably gods will. If a fetus is removed, god gets pissed and christian heads explode.

Buffalox ,

It’s a pretty old plane

True it's originally from 1978, but that still makes it slightly newer than F16!! And the Mirage 2000-5 is an updated version of the 2000.
I have no idea how good this plane is, but if it can help Ukraine I'm all for it.

Buffalox ,

He is getting senile, he forgot the new party line is that Russia is protecting Christianity.
If it's actually part of a non senile strategy, he may be trying to convince voters there are still grown ups among Republicans that will talk sense to Trump, and that Republicans aren't the party of traitors.

Buffalox ,

Do you mean the war where a country of 120 million people can't win over a country the third it's size. in a world of 7 Billion people?
A war constituting only less than 2% of the global population?
Is that the world war you mean?

Buffalox ,

Maybe if Xi is removed we can get back to improving relationships again. I hope China is pragmatic enough to realize a war against Taiwan will 100% cost them more than they gain.
IDK why they are behaving like such assholes about it currently, except Xi is an idiot about it, and want China recognized as a global power kind of like Russia wants.
The difference being China is an actual global power, while Russia is nothing without their nukes.

But I don't see it as a trend following the Ukraine war, the situation with China has been uneasy for a while, and even if Russia conned Hamas into their attack on Israel, it is of little military significance, except of course for the Palestinians that suffer greatly from this.

So I get what you mean, but I disagree it's a trend.

Buffalox ,

Thanks, it good to see that the democracy is good enough for people to actually have a say.

Buffalox ,

There's a saying about brilliant strategists are playing 3D chess, where normal people play 2D chess. But Putin is only playing it ½D Chess which is outright moronic. But I admit it can be a bit confusing being as moronic as it is.

Buffalox ,

but many people are just too afraid.

Yes unfortunately he manages to scare some people, and in USA his rhetoric is widely used for political propaganda against helping Ukraine.
It's astonishing the level of contact with Russia Americans accept among Republicans, without calling it out as effectively an agent for Russia working against American interests?!?! Here such people are removed from political influence. That would also have been the case in USA not very many years ago. But Trump has managed to make treason against USA the new normal among Republicans, because Democrats hate it for good reasons, but anything the Democrats hate, the Republicans want, disregarding harm to themselves, just to stick it to the "liberals".

Buffalox ,

Great to see the numbers are on again. 👍 😀
Apparently since it's gone on for months now, the Russians have decided that 1000+ personnel lost per day is the new normal!!

Buffalox , (edited )

AFAIK Ukraine is actually managing to meet the 1:4 ratio on the battlefield, by not sacrificing their soldiers like the Russians do.
I heard that attacks on the surroundings of Kharkiv Ukraine estimated a ratio of 1:8, it was probably similar with Avdiivka and probably even higher with Bakhmut.

Ukraine is fighting against steep odds, but amazingly they are doing extremely well considering the circumstances. Probably the advantage of NOT having an insane leader.

Salman Rushdie’s alleged assailant seeks plea deal with US ( www.semafor.com )

Hadi Matar, the man accused of nearly fatally stabbing British-American writer Salman Rushdie, is negotiating a plea agreement with both US state and federal prosecutors that could shed light on whether a foreign government or terrorist organization was involved in the attack, officials involved in the case told Semafor....

Buffalox , (edited )

You know what's blasphemous against Islam? Islam the Quran and fanatic muslims.

Buffalox ,

The absolute zero remorse, but rather the opposite in attacking everybody else should be an aggravating circumstance.
Michael Cohen showed remorse, and cooperated, and he still got jail time.
I'd say Trump deserves to serve time more than Cohen did.

1 Trump did not cooperate
2 Trump gave the orders
3 Trump shows no remorse

Is it really true that: "when you're a star, they let you do it. You can do anything."

Buffalox ,

It's kind of weird, we have 12 parties in "Folketinget" (Danish Parlament), and it only requires 2% of votes to get in. But our only religious party "Christian Democrats" has not managed to get in for decades.

Religion has very little power in politics here, despite (or maybe because?) the biggest church by far, is the government controlled "Peoples church", that even has it's own minister in the government!

The widespread religious fanaticism in USA seems insane here.

Buffalox ,

Yes that's weird too, because we have an official state church which is protestant, and the King and Queen are required to be members by law. We also have an official minister for religion, (it used to be for the state church), so we aren't 100% secular, but Denmark is now among the least religious countries in the world. But despite that 71% remain members of folkekirken "people's church", but not for religious reasons, more for weddings and funerals, baptism also remains tradition, maybe because the church is responsible for registering names any way.

So it's a weird mix of keeping religious traditions but without religious beliefs. I'll go so far as stating that most consider it almost secular ceremonies, and outside special holidays, most churches are almost empty. The whole system is only held up by taxpayer money.

For instance we had the political debate about abortion rights in the 70's, and there is no way that can be reversed now, there's such a huge majority for abortion rights that even the Christian Democrats stopped opposing it a few years ago.

There is not a single anti abortion party in Denmark anymore. It's absolutely insane for us to see how that basic right has been stripped away in some states in USA. As a matter of fact the limit for abortion was recently increased from 12 to 18 weeks.

Buffalox ,

Yes, that was very weird to read, repeating the same thing twice for the same CPU?

Buffalox ,

Good, they were transporting military equipment in occupied territory, so 100% valid military target.

Buffalox ,

I simply don't get how this even became a question? The conditions should be that if they are within international law it's allright. And no doubt you are allowed by international law to shoot back when attacked.
This stance from USA is infuriatingly stupid.

Buffalox , (edited )

This is solely about not wanting the war to go nuclear.

Really? Don't you think I know that? That's still bullshit, and letting Russia dictate the terms. European countries are widely acknowledging Ukraines right to defend themselves, including striking into Russia. And Russia is of course spewing bullshit about it as usual, calling it escalation to a global war and what not. The truth is the only thing Russia respects is a show of force, that's how it was with the Soviet Union too, and that hasn't changed.

Europe is delivering F16 soon that are ALREADY allowed to attack Russia, there is zero reasonable argument to not allow Ukraine to defend themselves properly. It will only embolden Russia, as it already has, by Russia attacking in the northern region now, because Ukraine isn't allowed to fight back.
Russia is constantly trying to sow fear, and to exploit it. It's ironic how the worlds greatest military power is acting from fear and not strength!

Finally if there were actually a nuclear strike from Russia, it would most likely be against Ukraine, but despite that Ukraine does not share the doubt USA does.

I'm guessing USA will change policy on this soon, because they are pressured hard by allies.

But in the mean time Ukraine is fighting with one hand behind their back, which is costly to Ukraine currently.

Buffalox ,

It's really sick, she thought suffering was some sort of gate to heaven. So she made people suffer when they were dying.
