Atari VCS 800s are going super cheap right now.

Trying to figure out if they're worth it at over half off…

They're quite gorgeous, and the wireless controllers look decent. Wonder if they can be hacked to emulate more than just what they already do…

Sounds like a yes? Basically a linux machine with a front-end. Not unlike a Steamdeck…

Anyone got one and have feeling about it they want to share?

    @vampiress this is Ollie, who is named after Oliver Twist since after he came into our house and got fed, he gobbled it down and immediately started meowing which sounded like “MOOOORE!”. He was also filthy from being found under my FILs bonnet in his engine bay when he stopped at the pharmacy one night on the way home. Dirty little orphan asking for more food. Oliver Twist.

    @vampiress Wellington Surplus was the best store in the late 90s. It had 3 floors and a basement full of stuff like that! We used to get ammo cases for geocaches. Also they were the only Doc Martens dealer in Perth.

    @vampiress I had those books too! I CHERISHED them and my parents turfed them all out after I moved out. I also had ones which were stories about two brothers who solved mysteries using programs they wrote? I built those on my school BBC Micros

    @vampiress the Civ I post on the Civilization Facebook page yesterday gave me hankerings again. Now this too. But my all time wish? A remake/mobile version (similar to Civ Revolution) of Railroad Tycoon. Just the gameplay mechanics from the original with modern but slightly cartoony graphics.
