probably my single biggest pet peeve is when senior faculty suggest i publish in less good journals just to get stuff out rather than publish good work in better journals slightly slower

Attention, or expeirmental people! Or maybe experimental people too. Do you recognize these images? A colleague dug them out of the dusty recesses of her archives, and we think they must be some set of standardized image stimuli, but we don't recognize which ones. These images were last edited 20 years ago, so it's an older archive of image stimuli.

Any ideas which archive of image stimuli might have produces these pictures?

@ergative This is my best guess based on a google scholar search for "photo psycholinguistic stimuli 2004" and a citation in the BOSS dataset (https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0010773): Cortex paper https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0010945208701424

    @ergative bizarre, but if it's any consolation, a collaborator of mine did an analysis with ~3 million data points with full random slopes and it took 2 minutes in julia vs. several hours in lmer

    writing a journal article is kind of meandering, like you say the same story but across 3 different stanzas, but writing a conference paper is like, you can maybe do the tl;dr of the first stanza, the literature review strategy is so different
