For a decade, Hollywood hasn’t aggressively fought piracy because it saw people would pay if they made them a good deal.
But as streaming has gotten worse and more expensive, consumers turned back to file sharing. Now the industry plans to get Congress to pass new legislation to stop them.
Despite being part of the #Fediverse (from what I read today), #Medium is one of the worst platforms out there. Having to pay to read articles is something that deeply irritates me. Similarly, having to use a proprietary DRM like Widevine to watch videos on Netflix, Amazon, Paramount, etc., is frustrating (long live #piracy).
Hey #Fediverse what #book do you recommend about history of software piracy? I would be interested in early days like c64/atari etc. as well more modern things like Dreamcast, PSX, Wii etc. I read several articles about it and watched videos from modern vintage gamer. But looking for something which talks more in depth about it.
Could you recommend me something? #games#piracy#giereczkowo
So... what's the consensus on "pirating" board games? I'm currently copying (doing my own art, cards and pieces) of a boardgame that is no longer produced and the remaining copies are not for sale (and can't be shipped) to my country.
I bought a custom stencil, a press, did my own dice, will do my own cards, 3d printed some other pieces.
Is this equivalent to "game mechanics can't be copyrighted"?
Got reminded of this while reading about ProtonMail. The reason I haven't gotten into proper #piracy is that I don't have a VPN for torrenting, and the reason I don't have a VPN is that I don't #torrent. So it would be nice if I got a good VPN while #degoogling myself.
Will ProtonVPN rat me out to Comcast? I know some VPNs don't hide what you're downloading from your ISP, for reasons I don't fully understand.
