When #Mozilla created their new logo with :// in it, the team behind reached out to me and asked if I had any objections since #curl already was using :// in our logo.
I did not object - I approved of it. I think it validated our logo choice and I am jealous they have a name that can hold :// integrated the way they do.
Just rebooted and I’m up and running with Fedora Silverblue 40.
(Just tried reinstalling mozilla-openh264 – so videos work in Firefox – but it failed with the same error. Not a big deal, I’m using @Vivaldi as my main browser these days anyway and I guess the Fedora folks will fix this in time.)
More importantly, I wonder if the screen reader has been fixed yet. (Yes, Fedora ships with a broken screen reader.)

Going to be disappointing for many VR people but makes sense with the cuts
Mozilla fires 60 people to “focus on bringing ‘trustworthy AI into Firefox.’”
Fuck you, Mozilla. No one is asking for AI in Firefox. Sadly, you’re the best we can hope for under capitalism. So if we want something better, we should look into alternative models.
I was very excited last year when I saw that #Mozilla was creating their own instance and investing in strict content moderation. I thought it would be the instance I would direct folk new to the #fedi bit after having my account suddenly suspended without warning nor link to rules I supposedly violated is disappointing. It makes me not even want to be on this instance anymore. Sad, especially it coming from a company I like.
Lol, it's a very stupid comment from #Mozilla. Firstly, Apple doesn't force them to create a separate browser version for the EU; they can have one version of the good old restricted #Firefox. Secondly, you cannot ask the EU to change laws and rules in other countries around the globe.
I wrote this blog post to inform the people I know who aren't as tech savvy or otherwise don't put any thought into their choice of browser. Another goal is to help get enough awareness on the topic and make sure it fails.
