U.S. Department of Labor Releases New Overtime Rules The U.S. Department of Labor has published its Overtime Final Rule designed to update and revise overtime protections for millions of workers employed by nonprofits, for-profits, and government. The final rule, set to go into effect starting July 1, 2024, increases the minimum salary that employees must be paid to be exempt from overtime pay. The rule sets this threshold at $43,888,with another increase in January 2025 to $58,656. It is anticipated that the rule may still be challenged in court.
