Sur un mur rougeâtre encadré par 2 montants de pierre claire et dont le crépi est abîmé, une plaque en pierre est accrochée. Elle indique : MINISTERO PER I BENI CULTURALI E AMBIENTALI ARCHIVIO DI STATIO DI VENZIA SEDE SUSSIDIARIA En dessous, un interphone noir avec 4 touches, dont 3 pour les archives par étage (rez-de-chaussée, 1er étage, 2e étage). On aperçoit le rebord d'une fenêtre à gauche.

    Colour photo taken late at night, looking up at the top storeys of three buildings which form three sides of a courtyard. The building on the left is white marble, and has one small arched dark window, the building on the right is painted scarlet, and has a row of long narrow rectangular shuttered windows, and the building straight in front of the camera is a slightly eerie creamy-green colour. The windows on this central building are all shuttered and dark apart from one, which is has its shutters partially open, and the warm light from within seen through this narrow slit and bouncing off the arch above makes the shape of a glowing arrow. The sky above is dramatically glowering dark blue with some white streaks of cloud.

Across the canal there is a big round bright warm yellow street light (canal light?) luminous like a fake setting sun, casting a warm glow through the otherwise impenetrable mist.
