We honor the women who raised their children to become bearers of the flags of liberation. Here’s to the #Mothers who carry their children twice: once in their wombs, bringing them to life, and once on their shoulders after their martyrdom.
To the pride of our nation and the crowns of our heads: We kiss your noble hands and hope that with each passing day, we may be worthy of the sacrifices you’ve made for us, despite knowing very well that we may never be. Until then, we’ll keep chanting, with each rising martyr:
يأمّ الشهيد نيّالك،
يا ريت إمّي بدالك

Today more than 465 million Arabs honor their mothers. March 21, #mothersday is dedicated to honoring #mothers and all motherly figures. In 1956 #Egyptian journalist #MustafaAmin came across a widowed mother abandoned by her son. Expressing #sympathy with abandoned mothers and disregarded parents he promoted the idea throughout the country but was initially ridiculed by everyone. Mustafa anointed March 21 as the annual Mother’s Day in the newspaper “Akhbar el-Yom.” Amin was later imprisoned for his campaign.
