“The thing that really upset Dorsey: Bluesky users demanded moderation and Bluesky put it into place. Yeah, that was the whole issue.”

Good reflection on “decentralized” social media and what Dorsey really wants from it by @davidgerard:

Jack Dorsey is furious that has attracted "very very common" people. He also doesn't like the idea of moderation tools facilitating the banning of racists.

All these tech billionaires are like a version of the movie Big, in which a pre-adolescent boy wakes up in the body of an aging Howard Hughes. Or Colonel Kurtz. Or a sardine.

Here's Jack's reply to the stir he's caused with his recent interview. Posted 10 minutes ago on Nostr.

Could someone explain to me in simple words what is wrong with ? Esp. federating between different protocols?

I don't trust neither nor one millimeter. For good reasons I never used any of their services.

It wouldn't surprise me, if those billionaires just try to get users and data and afterwards close the gates.

However, I'm not yet convinced, that general containment or segregation is the best way to deal with it. Doesn't it contradict the concept of ?
