A triumph of over-engineering, the Forth Bridge, often called the Forth Rail Bridge since the arrival of the Forth Road Bridge: now one of three great bridges across this part of the Firth of Forth, each built in a different century. The Forth Bridge. The image shows the Forth Bridge seen from the south-west with evening sun illuminating its whole length. There are five stone supports at the near end, leading in from the right of the frame, and these are lit by the sun to a bright honey colour. The metal structure of the bridge is in the lower left of the frame and is bright reddish-orange. The sky is blue, and this is reflected in the water.
