Would like to avoid an android device, as im not a google fan. But I guess it's getting kinda hard to in this space.
Love the fuck out of the #Remarkable tablet, but it basically crashes on half the PDFs @chaosium_inc puts out. My understanding is that the Remarkable 2 isn't much better.
eInk / ePaper displays only. No iPad sugestions needed.
I mostly deal with stuff sans DRM. So I dont need to worry about kindle/kobo/etc app support. Wouldn't be adverse to a kobo device in principle, though.
Tagging @libreture because, I reckon a boost from them, might get me to some of the right audience here. If they feel so inclined.
Problem is that we're/they're bound by our #Nonprofit#PublicSector status to avoid discussing #capitalism as a problem or naming the political party responsible for this state of affairs @pluralistic, please advise...
TFW you're really enjoying a mystery/thriller but end up having to dock points from your review for its insistent aPPLe promos. On the + side, it did give me an opportunity to confirm my guess that "malophobe" is the word to describe how I feel about that company😡 #AmReading#ebooks#Mystery@bookstodon
Nostalgia: A History of a Dangerous Emotion by Agnes Arnold-Forster review – no place like home
"Quoting Michel Barnier, the EU chief negotiator, she sees the vote to leave Europe as a direct expression of Britain’s “nostalgia for the past”, alerting us to the way that Barnier’s tautologous phrasing suggests a doubling down – Britons really, really want to live in a once-upon-a-time land when foreigners knew their place."

If an #ebook subscription service sounds like it might be for you, please consider supporting one that isn’t owned by #Amazon, that exploits its dominant position to force authors into exclusivity deals that prevent their work from being available elsewhere. There are alternatives to #KindleUnlimited, including (but not limited to) #Everand. @bookstodon
It’s been over a decade since Tor Books UK revealed that the decision to sell DRM-free #ebooks didn’t negatively impact their business or cause an increase in unauthorised file sharing. Sadly, few traditional publishers have followed suit. I hope the rest of the industry takes the hint, sooner rather than later. The day ALL publishers stop infecting their ebooks with #DRM can’t come soon enough as far as I’m concerned. Defective by design is NOT a feature. @bookstodon
"It is about the Land according to the redefined Judaism that emerged in the centuries following the destruction of the Jerusalem Temple in 70 CE. This Judaism replaced the temple cult with Torah study - a study that pertained in part to that very temple cult, that became a portable homeland, and that reconfigured the Land."
