#Journal of a slightly excited Dutch Pixy 🧚🏼♀️ (Monday, July 1st 2024).
TL;DR mostly an usual start of the day... And then... I signed the lease and got the keys to my little house!!! 😁
I woke once during the night and then when the alarm went off. That doesn't happen too often, so it startled me a bit. My sleep score was 92, so not too shabby. I got to the scales and they were nice too. The weather was dry and 13°C, so also not bad. I got dressed and took my meds. I prepped Arwen's food and then we had a short walk. She did her things and we got back. I fixed her food and I put down the snacks as she was eating. I got my bag and headed to the gym.
I chatted with a gym friend for a while, and then I finally got my ass in gear and started the workout. I checked Masto, wrote my journal, and got some easy cardio in. First the treadmill, then the seated bike. I finished with the massage chair, and then I headed back home again.
A quick wash up, change of clothes and some food... Then, SniffBook walkies 🐾 with my gall. She had a good time and I played with my phone for a while. I was counting down the hours! Getting both anxious and excited as time slowly but surely passed by... I chatted a while with a sweet friend on Masto, which was a nice way to pass some of that time 😉.
When we got home, I got to the PC and worked on my blog. Then my bestie called and we had a nice chat while she drove to her work. I got ready for walkies with our walkies friend, the last one for a while, as it would be "working in the house" in the mornings from now on... So we both had some mixed feelings, but we did enjoy the chat and walk.
When we got back, my emotions were going crazy... I felt my AuDHD roaring, as it tried to keep me calm while it also got me anxious 😂 such a weird state of mind... I rode the hometrainer for a bit... I needed some distraction. Then, I walked Arwen and fed her. I got to Skoosh and programmed the maps app. There was a small detour due to some roads being closed, so a new route to take (again).
A sweet friend offered to call me, but I was too afraid I'd miss the instructions of the navigation, that I unfortunately had to decline the offer. I was bummed about it... But too anxious to be making stupid mistakes, I didn't need a meltdown to happen... 😊 Fortunately he understood, so that was good.
I arrived too early and found a parking spot next to my parents, who also just arrived. We were both too early... 😊 I met some new neighbors and I helped them to unload their car. That's what a good neighbor does, right? 😉 If I had to wait, if better make myself useful. Then I got called to the house. So hey ho, let's do this!
I got some explanations, I had to show ID and proof of my first payment. I had so sign some papers and then another man took me though a house tour. Got all things I needed to know explained to me. The do's and don'ts, the things I needed to keep in mind while working on the house. After the tour, I got handed my keys, and then they left my parents and me in "my" house. 😊
We unloaded the cars, and one of my other new neighbors helped to carry some stuff for us this time. See, it's the thing nice neighbors do for each other 😉! The block of our four houses have mainly folk moving in that, it seems, are about my age. They all seem very nice, so that's a plus for sure. 😊 When the cars were empty, my parents left. They visited a hardware store to get the things I needed (and didn't know I did until the tour). So sweet of them! It does mean some extra work, but it should save some annoyance and extra costs in the end. So it will be worth it.
When all bags were unpacked, I made a small video and then I drove back home. Arwen needed a pee, I needed some food. I chatted some on Masto till it was time to prep for bed. Onwards to the next day!
Unfortunately I woke a few times, the last time about 90 minutes before my alarm. I thought I could use the sleep, so I tried to fall asleep. But 20 minutes later I was still wide awake and getting sore muscles. So I got up and started my day...

That's so lovely to help out a neighbour and have some help yourself then too. Building nice relationships from the start! They're probably just as anxious & excited with mixed up emotions, like you too. It's great to get off to a nice start.
Have a great day! The official bits are done. The worst of the unknown is out of the way. It should be a little bit easier from now on 🤞 a bit less pressure hopefully

They're all around my age (I think) so that's nice too.
And they were probably just as anxious yeah... 😊 I do hope I can get the work done, as it's a lot... I want the downstairs area to be painted before the floors/move. Upstairs is more challenging as the roof is so damned high! I may need to do what I can and maybe ask help later with the high bits. I'm kinda scared of heights 🫣 so when I saw the roof height the first time.... 😲

Oh. Height can be a difficulty so when you're afraid of too high. I hope you can work it out 🤞

Yeah it's a very high ceiling. So I'd need a high ladder and then use a telescope roller. And I don't have enough strength in my hands to use those well... So I'll definitely try when I'm done downstairs (though I've only just begun there 😂) and see what I can do...
I wanna try to get the walls done where I can "easily" reach them. It may look stupid to have the high bits not done yet... But it needs both primer and paint then, so it's twice the work on something I struggle with... 🫣 So I'll try and will ask for help when I fail... 😔

@PixysJourney@weirdfolks eek that sounds very high, as you need the ladder aswell as a telescopic handle. Those rollers are very heavy and awkward when loaded with paint. It needs a good strong wrist, hand & arm to hold. Could you use masking tape to draw a kind of straight line along at a height you can reach? Then it wouldn't look as unfinished, and not even attempt to paint it then for a bit. Trying it could set back other plans coz you might end up too sore.

Yeah I'll be asking my friends soon if they could maybe help with the ladder and telescopic roller... I could not get that done on my own without breaking my neck, with or without the stilts 😂
