From Wikipedia:

The Philippine scops owl is a fairly small-to-mid-sized species of owl, but is arguably the largest true species of scops owl. Adults measure from 23 to 28 cm (9.1 to 11.0 in). Their body mass can range from 125 to 310 g (4.4 to 10.9 oz), with females often considerably larger than males.

Look at that stellar use of eyeliner. The most fabulous owl that sauntered across my feed.

Glad to see this one getting so much positive attention!

intelisense ,

I will be very disappointed if this owl isn't on the owl-of-the-year competition.

RemindMe! 5 months

It's got some substantial subspecies variation, with a darker color morph and more or less fluffy legs, so it's got versatility. This light version is the star to me if the bunch though.

I do want to solicit at least some of the participants this year since we've become well established here. I'm curious to see which ones have really impacted you all.

Oh ! Count me in. I haven't been here much but for owl-of-the-year I will be back. Last year was so much fun!

I am glad you're still here! You're another one I've been missing your name popping up.

I absolutely want to do Owl of the Year again.

I'm not the kind to stick to one thing. I get invest a lot for sometime then I lost interest coming back from time to time but not so much.
I still love owl, I upvote many post but I don't have much so say anymore (^_^') Too bad because I miss the fun we had!

No worries! The owls and I are here when you need us. I'm just glad you're doing well.

For a quick second, the highlighting on its wing made me think it was holding its arm up with its fist under its chin, like it was posing in a school photo. Then I realized I’m a total fucking idiot, and owls don’t have any of those body parts. Brains are weird.

Look you're not that far off actually. That joint is the closest they have to our wrist.

The grad photo comparison is a great one!

Here's a color coded chart comparing bone structure:

Hey, look at that! Very interesting for sure. Thanks!

Add to it the fancy eye liner, and yeah, I think you might be right.

Are they really pink around the eyes like that? Wow!

Good catch! I didn't even take notice to that myself. It does add a very nice touch of flair.

The Verrreux Eagle Owl is famous for having pink eyelids, so it would not shock me if this was a pretty natural color for the Scops and not just some flashy photo editing.

Fabulous.

It really likes lipstick, but unfortunately doesn't have lips.

Mbourgon ,

He looks so damn dubious. “Uh-huh. Right. “
