The first image was of radio signals so not exactly "light" as we'd think of it typically. This is supposedly polarized light so technically an "actual image" in the way we think of pictures involving light.
I think you might be thinking of a different black hole. This one is in our galaxy, the first one imaged was in m87. The one in our galaxy is actually harder to "see" as there is stuff in the way.
One of my worst pet peeves is people claiming renders from scientific data are the same as a photograph. Amazing how I figured it out in highschool and I'm still seeing headlines banking on this misconception.
