This is fake news from a fantastically shitty site. https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/mint-press-news/

You can oppose the actions of Israel's government without making shit up.

Edit: And it's absolutely critical that this kind of antisemitic shit doesn't become the way people criticize Israel. Israel's right-wing, war-hawk, Netanyahu-led government fucking sucks, but not because they're Jewish, but because they're willing to commit genocide against Palestine in response to violence from Hamas.

It's 100% real, but not a new controversy.

https://www.thejc.com/news/israel/rape-comment-controversy-returns-to-haunt-idf-chief-rabbi-nominee-jd7k7n33

Rabbi Colonel Eyal Karim, who has been nominated as the new Chief Rabbi of the Israeli Defence Forces, is under scrutiny for comments he made about rape during wartime.

In 2012, revelations emerged regarding comments Rabbi Karim had made almost a decade previously, prior to joining the IDF.

At that time, Rabbi Karim answered questions for an Ask the Rabbi column on the national-religious “Kipa” news site. In 2003, he answered a question about how the Torah could justify the rape of non-Jewish women during wartime by explaining the Torah’s reasoning – but failed to say that such a thing was completely forbidden in the modern era.

Rabbi Karim issued a clarification in 2012 regarding his comments, stating that “obviously, in our times, when the world has advanced to a level of morality in which one does not marry captives, one must not perform this act, which is also entirely against the army’s values and orders.”

It's not even remotely close to "100% real." First, as you accurately point out, it's not new, it's from 2016 (so hardly pertinent now). But worse, it misrepresents what Karim said, as well as omitting that he has publicly stated, multiple times, that IDF soldiers are definitely banned from committing rape.

We have to get this right. Actual neo-Nazis want to turn justified anger at Israel over its response to Hamas' atrocities into antisemitism, and they'll use tactics like this fantastically shitty post to one of the larger political forums on the internet in order to do it.

this. there's other (more complicated though worth it) ways to fight back. there is no difference between genocide against Israelis and genocide against Palestinians.
