Floating Islands

July: This is Hvalfjörður* in western . What looks like an island in the fjord is actually a spit of land curving away from the viewpoint.

In the background is Skarðsheiði mountain range, with Skarðshyrna on the left.

A photo of a summer landscape. The foreground is a body of almost still water, in the middle of the shot is green and brown vegetation across a small hook of land. A few small buildings can be seen, and a dozen or so white dots which are either swans or geese. In the background is a range of bare, brown-grey mountains, with dappled sunlight across the flanks. A little snow is visible as stripes near the peaks. Above them is blue sky with a layer of woolly grey cloud above. The whole scene is reflected in the still waters of the lake.
