Still Waters

February, and on the Laxá ("Salmon") river, ¹Þórufoss has frozen almost solid.

16m (54ft) tall and with a width of up to 30m (100ft), this lovely falls is easily accessible at any time of year.

In the centre of the scene is a vertical drop covered in icicles which have frozen together to form a coating, which has then been powdered with snow on the horizontal ledges. Behind these ice formations is actually a waterfall, but none of the flowing water is visible in this shot.
