#Israel / Minister Eli Cohen: If the US does not give Israel absolute support - it has no business being in the Middle East
#Haaretz is reporting the energy Minister Eli Cohen said today that the #US's conduct sends a bad message to the entire region, and that "what was expected of the US is to act against Iran."
In remarks he made in Eilat, Cohen added: "If the US, our greatest friend which I respect very much, does not give the Israel absolute support - it has no business being in the Middle East."
Cohen, who served as Foreign Minister until a few months ago, added that the US erred in its decision not to veto the #UN Security Council resolution calling for a ceasefire in #Gaza, and said its conduct sends a bad message to moderate countries such as Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
@oatmeal@israel@palestine It would be great if the U.S. could be convinced that it has no business being in the Middle East and to end its support for Israel. But I doubt very much if Mr. Cohen means what he says. Surely he understands just how dependent #Israel is on all those cushy arms deals with the U.S. military.
@Paul_Friesen military and economically... "startup nation" does not exist without US investment (many Jewish investors BTW) direct and indirect... last figure I saw was 90% foreign investment.
@faab64@palestine@israel@oatmeal The sooner the settler-colonial project of Is-not-real is consigned to the dustbin of history, the sooner the world will be a saner place. #israel
@faab64 I was thinking the same when I posted this. The mouse that roared 🐭 comes to mind.
I guess when the West figured it can maintain a foothold in the Middle East by wishing a Jewish state which they artificially maintained for 76 years at the expense of the indigenous Palestine population, they didn’t imagine it’ll end up like this, or couldn’t care less …
@oatmeal
What makes me sick is that they are completely ignoring the UNSC and ICJ while they used them for justification of their "self defense" against Yemen.
