if you don't reduce things to manageable conclusions all you are left with is a mass of data and thus worthless.

All science, all statistics is about reducing data to a generalization

that doesn't change if you disagree with the generalization or dislike it being used in a debate.

as for "personal attacks"... if you see, I'm guessing here, "irrational optimist" as a personal attack you clearly need to do some growing up

Also, I'm pretty sure "cynical" was thrown first
