There was a podcast miniseries called “Flipping the Bird” about Elon Musk’s Twitter takeover. This song was the theme for it, and I can’t think of a more delightful fit.
I'm not too into Jazz but I've listened to enough of the more important stuff to know what's good or not, and this whole album was straight fire, but the absolute best part are the song titles.
As an Outkast fan i was hoping for a reunion album or at least just a cool Andre 3000 rap album, but I'm happy with what we got instead.
“Jailbreak the Tesla” is the second single from Injury Reserve’s self-titled debut album: it features Oregon rapper Aminé and has been released on March 21st, 2019.
The track marks the second time that Injury Reserve and Aminé have collaborated together, after their 2018 effort “Campfire,” also dealing with the importance of cars and… featuring a Tesla in the funny music video.
Plus, Ritchie with a T made a brief cameo in Aminé’s video clip for “Reel It In.”
Throughout rap’s recent history, the electric car brand, born by an idea of the South African born American businessman Elon Musk (mentioned in the song, together with his girlfriend, the experimental musician Grimes), have been mentioned as symbols of: more sustainable energy alternatives, as done in Common’s “Hustle Harder;” status and luxury, as done in Chris Brown’s “High End;” more simply, as a cool product, as done in Jaden Smith’s “Batman.” But here, the unconventional quartet takes the theme to another level, as the Tesla car becomes the central focus of their song.
“Jailbreak” is a technical term which means to bypass security measures of an electronic device in order to obtain full access or unlock protected features.
“Good Looking” is a portrait of lust, intimacy, and eventual loss as the singer attempts to navigate through the undiscovered lies of her past love experience, encapsulating these true moments which are now only memories. In a statement, Suki Waterhouse declared:
“Good Looking” is a representation of desire, attachment, and intimacy that captures the real moments in life, while uncovering the secrets buried within each of us. A girl and a boy embark on a journey that leads them to a burning love where nothing is what it seemed. Sometimes people are not destined to end up with each other. Nevertheless, the reflection always remains…
Released in October 2017, the slow-indie ballad gained attention in May 2022 when a sped-up version of the track went viral on TikTok.
In addition, the London-based artist traveled to New York City to create sultry visuals for the single. In a retro and timeless style, the music video follows Suki and her lover — played by Australian model Jordan Barrett — in the most intimate moments of life.
“How Not to Drown” is the second single from CHVRCHES' fourth album and features The Cure founder and frontman Robert Smith. The song began under the working title “Piano Drum Ting” after Martin Doherty began “bashing chords out” on a piano at a venue where the band was scheduled to perform. Lauren Mayberry’s lyrics were inspired by a time she “felt like I was in over my head at the deep end and not sure how to get back” and considered quitting the band.
Meanwhile, the band’s manager made contact with Smith and sent him some of the band’s works in progress. Smith selected “Drown” and emailed the band his vocal contributions for the track “out of the blue” on Halloween, then remained involved in the song’s creation throughout the rest of the process including contributing guitar & bass and being involved with the sound of the finished product.
The track’s music video was filmed during COVID-19 lockdown, so Smith’s parts were filmed separately at his house using a green screen.
“How Not To Drown” peaked at #55 on the UK Singles Downloads Chart and won NME’s “Best Song By A UK Artist” award.
Chromatics’, alternative and “indie” take on Cyndi Lauper’s classic ‘Girls Just Want to Have Fun’. Featuring seven songs and having a run time of twenty-eight minutes, the album features different variations of ‘Girls Just Want to Have Fun’ with unique and different twists on each song. Released on November 6, 2015, ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun’ marks Chromatics’ 6th album release.
