several high ranking officials in Iran have asked Khamenei to declare Iran to be in state of war with Israel

Since Israel bombed Iranian consulate and openly admitted doing this, it's Iran's right to see that an act of war of agression that gives Iran the right to self defense against an aggressor is granted to Iran under Article 51 of the UN charter:

Article 51

“Nothing in the present Charter shall impair the inherent right of individual or collective self-defence if an armed attack occurs against a Member of the United Nations, until the Security Council has taken measures necessary to maintain international peace and security. Measures taken by Members in the exercise of this right of self-defence shall be immediately reported to the Security Council and shall not in any way affect the authority and responsibility of the Security Council under the present Charter to take at any time such action as it deems necessary in order to maintain or restore international peace and security.”

No doubt the bombing of the consulate is an act of war on part of Israel.

I fear what could happen next. I believe Iran will show prudence and act via its local allies (Hezbollah, Kataib Hezbollah or the Yemeni interim gov), but frankly there's no reason why Iran couldn't enter a state of war with Israel.

Then again, I really hope someone puts a stop to Israel, anyone. I just don't think Iran should be the one to do it, but protests and resistance around the world.

Netanyahu is desperate.

He has lost the war in Gaza. Hamas is weakened but nowhere near destruction.

He lost the war at home, people see clearly that he has 0 interest in bringing the hostages home, despite orders from UNSC and ICJ.

He has lost the world, even with his lobbyists working overtime and almost all western media and top politicians dancing by his tunes, people have seen the true and ugly face of fascist coalition government of Israel and it's brutality and disregard for almost every human rights and international law.

His military is weak. Without constant supply of weapons and parts from he can't even win against small and insignificant group like Hamas, but he wants to fight Hezbollah and Iran hoping that Biden, Sunak, Scholtz and other war mongers in NATO come to his support.

Nothing is more dangerous than a cornered rabid dog, and Netanyahu is one of the most dangerous people alive in our world right now.

All the more reason for Iran to act prudently. Any reaction on their part will be spinned as "aggression" by western media, and Netanyahu would love further American involvement in the region.

No matter what Iran does, US and NATO will claim that it's at fault.

I'm amazed that Canada didn't react strongly against Israeli bombing that almost destroyed their embassy in Damascus.

The Iranian consulate is between Iranian and Canadian embassies, unless Israel has already warned Canada about the attacks, the staff of embassy would have been injured.
