Connect A Song

retrieval4558 , in Fair to Midland - Tall Tales Taste Like Sour Grapes

This whole album is super underrated. Very unique and cool.

toots , in Squirrel Nut Zippers - Hell

Tracked down and listened to this today after hearing ‘Oh! No’, a new song from The Decemberists.

teamevil , in sunn O))) - "My Wall"

It's just shapeless feedback endlessly with no structure. Hell even AnalCunt had more complex well written noise.

That's kinda their schtick. It's not really my thing, but some metalheads rally get into the tone/noise worship. Personally, any music that is hard to tell apart from a diesel generator is not really my thing, but to each their own.

teamevil ,

I guess that is kinda the point I was trying to make...lots of the stuff I like sounds like a pure cacophony.... But there's still order to the chaos even if it's consistently chaos....

HeyJoe , in Donna Summer - "I Feel Love"

I love this song. There is a lot of history behind it and it's always fun talking to people when this randomly comes on and I'm with someone. The craziest part is how almost nobody ever knows who it is until I tell them.

pdxfed , (edited ) in Donna Summer - "I Feel Love"

Moroder was a huge influence on Daft Punk, and growing up in the late 80s and early 90s I never understood why I liked some 70s or 80s songs so much or why some had such replayability, turns out moroder was behind many of them: neverending story, top gun, Scarface...

Oh yeah, and fortunately we have this little audio documentary as well!

pdxfed ,

Yeah, that's where I learned of the connection, dug back through moroder and so much of random movie soundtrack and songs that I inexplicably liked made sense.

Jikiya , in Gravity Kills - Down

Listened to this CD so much when it came out, yet couldn't have remembered them if not for this post.

Plum , in Islands - Jogging Gorgeous Summer

Sweet!

NielsBohron , in The Hand, The Furnace, The Straight Face - project86
@NielsBohron@lemmy.world avatar

That's a tenuous connection for a band I haven't thought about in a decade (let alone listened to), but I like it.

DerisionConsulting OP ,

Sometimes we get into a rut where we stick to the same connection too many times in a row, gotta throw in some weird connections to fully break out.

dragThruGardenPlz , in Silverchair "Tomorrow"

Fantastic connection!

Sendpicsofsandwiches , in The Knife - "We Share Our Mother's Health"
@Sendpicsofsandwiches@sh.itjust.works avatar

HELL YEAH! I was thinking of this song when i saw all the other knife songs

It's hard to pick just one with how good this pair are, but this is the piece that hooked me.

Sendpicsofsandwiches ,
@Sendpicsofsandwiches@sh.itjust.works avatar

Yeah this is my personal favorite of theirs too, it really does grab you

Donkter , in Genesis - The Knife

The knife is a great band

dditty , in Samwell - "What What (In the Butt)"

Damn it's been 17 years ... 👴

13esq , in Samwell - "What What (In the Butt)"

I heard this in a South Park episode first and had no idea it was a cover of a real song, I thought they were just being silly! 🤦🏼‍♂️

southsamurai , in Britny Fox - Girlschool

His baby broke all the rules

Please explan the connection to the previous song, even if it's obvious. Thank you!

Sam_Bass OP ,

School girl. Pretty obvious to me
