liminalDeluge , in Hi any dropout subscribers here?

I subscribed to Dropout earlier this year after I exhausted the free episodes on their YouTube channel. Definitely a fan of GameChanger and Make Some Noise! I recently started watching Um, Actually as well. One of these days I'll have to get into the DnD side of things; I know I'll like them, it just feels like more of an undertaking to watch, you know?

The ability to spell well has nothing, or very little, to do with intelligence.

If someone uses the phrase “assless chaps” I will not rest until they admit that if chaps had an ass, they would be pants.

Fight me.

I know it has a long history of not being used literally, but I think literally should only be used to mean literally.

Those big SUV like Ford f150 should be illegal, for real. They are super long and tall, the driver can barely see what's right in front, it's dangerous for everyone not in the car. Cars should have stricter limits on size, if it's bigger, you need a special license.

Subscription services are not worth it, period. Phone and internet bills are all you need to get everything you want at the best possible qualities in the best possible formats. Subscription services are only convenient for the lazy who don't know how to use the internet.

This is more of a meta thing, but relevant to a lot of comments I'm seeing here. Having an opinion about pineapple on pizza is the most uninteresting cultural phenomenon. I've spent the last 4 years on dating apps, and at least 1 in 3 people write in their bio about this "issue". It's not something that people truly have strong feelings about, it's like straight men saying Ryan Reynolds is attractive, or people arguing over the definition of a sandwich. It's an opinion that people hold as a proxy for being somebody with strong opinions.

Phones are for talking, navigating, and casual content consumption. Desktops (and laptops) are for actually getting things done. Both are useful, but the former is not a substitute for the latter.

Tablets are oversized phones that can't even phone. I don't see any use for them that isn't better served by something else. They'd actually be useful if they ran a desktop operating system, and some early ones did, but modern ones don't.

elleyena_rose , in How do y'all feel about writing things by hand?

I like to do both. There are times where I need to type everything, because my typing speed can keep up with my thoughts. I can get all of the thoughts out of my head quickly, and clear my head so I can focus. It's also easier to do in some places, like when I'm at work - typing myself a quick note and then emailing it to my home email (or saving it in drive), is much faster and more likely to make it where I need it to go. I tend to forget physical items at work.

Writing by hand I use for journaling. For slowing down and taking time to do something. For magic - where I want to put intention and energy into the words and sometimes burn the paper after. For when my eyes are so sick of screens that I just need a break, but still need to get those thoughts out. I'd also rather handwrite something then type it on my phone - Eventually I need to get one with a stylus so I can just write on the screen.

It's the same reason I usually draw things by hand, then scan them to digitize. I have a tablet. I use it for digitization. But my art is generally better by hand.

chillybones , in How do y'all feel about writing things by hand?

I type for a living (developer) and I find that I can type WAY faster than I can write. So that is how I prefer to communicate with people and interact with most things during my day. However, when I am on a meeting or a call, I just cannot multitask well enough to capture key details on a computer. I have no idea what my disconnect with that is, but I've given up on trying to type notes and memos while I'm on a call and invested in a fountain pen and a good pad of paper. I will mention that I do really enjoy the feel of a really good pen on paper and maybe that type of feedback is what lets my brain take handwritten notes better.

Microtransactions are not acceptable in full retail single player games. I don't care if it's only cosmetics. If i pay 60 bucks for it, i better get the whole damn thing. Looking at you, Diablo 4.

If you throw cigarette butts on the ground you're probably shittier than average person in many other ways too

Sarcasm and irony are not the same thing dammit! A limp, unfunny imitation is not a "parody"! I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO TELL YOU THIS, INTERNET!!!

Vanilla is NOT a boring flavour. It is the best flavour and most versatile flavour!!!!!! Describing things as vanilla should not be synonymous with boring and I'll fight anyone who argues otherwise

Satiric_Weasel , in non-stickied PSA: Beehaw has signed the Anti-Meta Fedi Pact

I guess I'm the odd one out when I say I fully support this decision. I do not trust Meta, I Do not trust their intentions, and they have given me no reason to trust them.

Thanks Beehaw.
