My partner didn’t know anything about the mannerisms and personalities of cats when we met. Now she’s saving boxes and crinkly paper for the kitties of her own volition. Even without the caption, I’d know he’s having a blast.

Our dog loves cardboard. She tears it to pieces and makes a giant mess, but it makes her so darn happy we let her do it regularly. Whenever I bring a box inside she follows me around.

That reminds me of the malamute we had growing up. He loved to rip the wrapping off presents. He was invited to all the neighborhood birthdays. He was so gentle with small children, too. If it was a young child's birthday, he would gently grab a piece and tear off as much as he could before running a safe distance away to "headshake" the paper. Damn good boy.

My recently departed puss, Alley (tuxedo, lived to 19), absolutely loved crinkly packing paper stuffed into a cardboard box. That was her great adventure, her domain, her hiding place, her happy place. We used to buy packing paper at Amazon just so we'd always have enough on hand to stuff into a box. You never saw such a happy cat.
