@bud_t@academicchatter because of who we work for, shared governance only exists if the president of the institution wants it to exist. It would take Congress to change that which isn't going to happen.
Another significant struggle is that a sizeable portion of our faculty got their degrees with us and have never really known a different academic system. We're significantly inbred and it's going to get worse because almost no one from the outside is accepting our job offers.
