@simon I don't really understand how Facebook has such a hard time knowing who is human and who is not, at least within the US.

If you've done anything requiring a credit check, you know that the credit agencies know every place you've lived, who lived there with you, etc.

How hard could it possibly be to ground their network of (presumably real-named) US accounts in that data and get definitive ground-truth on at least 50% of US accounts?

@zellyn attempts to assert "real names" in the past have faced severe objections from users, it was a whole thing with Google+ too https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Facebook_real-name_policy_controversy

@simon @zellyn I quit FB and deleted my account in 2012.

A month ago I created a new account because I am starting to volunteer for our local community association and there's a FB Page and Group.

I posted a link to a pluralistic.net post and FB said it was spam. I disputed it.

The next morning my wife said she couldn't find my profile. I went to log in and my account was suspended as being suspected of being a bot account.

To unsuspend it required me to ...
