For me personally, a vital part of the Designing a Dungeon process is to sit in a park and design the dungeon.

This week's blog post is a bit of a lore dump, but also a reflection on what "story" and “narrative" can mean within games, and why I tend to prefer building systemic games over narrative ones.

Also: enjoy a big robot smashy shooty gif.

An Exo (big robot) charges behind a gigantic log pile amid a desolate landscape, hides for a second then pops out, opening up it’s quad vulcan cannons on an unsuspecting Commonwealth tank and mech column before darting back into cover.

@vampiress I’ve been using rss readers for nearly 15 years. They’re great. A slightly nicer looking one would be cool, but they’re super functional as is.

    Currently using Unread

@vampiress don’t tempt me. Been working with building rss for my website, surely it’s easy enough to build a design layer on top of an rss reader… surely

This week I spent my time on the games HUD. Trying to make it look distinct, interesting, and letting it convey necessary info, whilst making it respond to not only screen sizes, but orientations and controller layouts has been... challenging…

A screen cap of Exoloper showing a user interface interaction when a user presses a button on their keyboard (or controller).
