Prop 2 school bond is a $10 billion bond for school facilities, provided as matching funds to school districts. $1.5 billion of the $10B total is set aside for Community Colleges.
It's supported by the Building Trades, 100+ school/college districts, though some districts oppose

The two dozen or so opposing school districts are in poorer areas. Concern is that Prop 2's funding formula, where local district has to put up money to get the state match, favors rich districts. https://calmatters.org/education/2024/06/school-bond-california/

Prop 3 (Marriage Equality) repeals 2008's Prop 8 same sex marriage ban, and replaces it with a line that marriage is a fundamental right.

This protects same-sex marriage in CA in case the US Supreme Court overturns previous decisions to allow it.

Prop 4 is known as the Climate Bond, as it helps CA deal with the impact of climate change. $10 billion total.
3.8B: water/floor control
1.5B: wildfire prevention
1.2B: coastal resilience
1.2B: biodiversity protection
850M: clean air
700M: parks
450M: heat mitigation
300M: farms

So far, many environmental groups, plus some labor unions, local governments, and other community organizations support Prop 4.

Prop 5 lowers the threshold for passing local bond measures for affordable housing and infrastructure to 55%. Currently 2/3 is needed.

It was recently amended to apply to bonds only, and not taxes placed on the ballot by a local government.

Prop 5 is opposed by Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association California Chamber of Commerce + other anti-tax, business, and landlord organizations.

Realtors dropped opposition after getting amendment to ban bonds $ for buying houses and 2-4plexes. https://www.kqed.org/news/11991614/california-realtor-group-wont-fight-affordable-housing-measure-for-a-price

Prop 6 (previously known as ACA8) ends slavery in California, by banning forced labor in prisons. https://aclucalaction.org/bill/aca-8/

Several states have already done this, including Oregon, Colorado, Utah, Alabama, and a few others. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Penal_exception_clause

Prop 32 raises the California minimum wage to $18 by 2026, then adjusts it upwards with inflation. Currently it is $16 an hour.

Fast food workers already have a minimum wage of $20, and healthcare workers are on track to get raises, eventually reaching $25.

Prop 33, also known as the Justice for Renters Act, allows cities to expand rent control by repealing Costa-Hawkins.
The biggest change is that cities would be able to limit annual rent increases for detached houses.
https://justiceforrenters.org/about-us/

Prop 33 would also allow cities to rent control newer buildings - currently they can't rent control anything built after 1995, or whatever year they first passed rent control, which for some places was the early 80s.

Finally, Prop 33 also would allow vacancy control - limiting rent increases when a tenant moves out and a new one moves in.

This is designed to reduce the incentive landlords currently have to harass longtime rent controlled tenants to get them to leave.

Sound familiar? 2024's Prop 33 is similar to 2018's Prop 10 and 2020's Prop 21
