Swastika Night was published by an Englishwoman– Katharine Burdekin– under a male pseudonym in 1937. Which means that it was likely conceived and written in 1936 or earlier.

It is terrifying in its understanding of the stakes, and not only the nature of authoritarianism, but what can break it.

The book is startling when held up against Project 2025 & what we know about who Trump is.

We'd be fools not to listen to Burdekin's warnings, and wisdom.

It's hard to talk about something if we can't see how insidious ideas got there in the first place.

My latest, a history of antisemitism written to illuminate where harmful anti-Jewish tropes remain alive in our discourse today-- and how to pull them out of legitimate political conversation.

We must all find our way together.

And part of that work involves being able to see one another in our full humanity, beyond deeply ingrained stereotypes and baggage.
