Another Saturday, another fun - I think the most fun this season. Although I wish we'd had something like this earlier (and, arguably, for some people, The Devil's Chord filled that gap), in the series of events and, indeed, the actual month we're seeing it, it's absolutely perfect. Although I imagine, for people who aren't fans of period dramas it won't land quite the same. Spoilers to come in the comments.

I loved the Rogue character, who felt like Henry Cavill (right down to the dice game geek angle) crossed with Captain Jack, so perfectly for replacing that troublesome character/actor in the ongoing canon. I loved seeing The Doctor having another love interest, which kind of reminded me of that other period dramas episode, The Girl in the Fireplace, where we see how The Doctor reacts to heartbreak.

I loved that the shape changing aliens were, instead of the usual reptilian, insectoid, arachnoid or slimy, cute and feathery instead. And I just love Ncuti as The Doctor - he's really breathed new life into the character.

I largely go into these Doctor Who episodes without having seen anything other than the overall season trailers, so aside from knowing it was Bridgerton-adjacent, with some sort of owl-looking alien, I had no clues about what to expect, let alone that Rogue was the name of a new character. And I was totally prepared to believe that Ruby might have been killed off, because it seemed to strike just the right note of tragedy.
