Part 01:

This noob is testing the interconnectivity of the #Fediverse:

The word out there on the Fediverse make it seem as if all the different tools (Mastdn/P-tube/Lemmy/etc.) can interact with one another. But this is not the case, as some work both ways, whilst others only one way, or at all.

So made accounts & been testing for past few weeks:

e) #Lemmy

g) #Bonfire
h) #Peertube
i) #Funkwhale
j) #Pixelfed

Part 02:

And just out of curiosity:

a) Using , to test between AT ( ) & AP protocols (Mastodon, etc.)
b) Meta's for testing with Mastodon.
c) Starting to test with its peer-to-peer network.

TL;DR:

The holds a lot of promise, but it the ideal level of interconnectivity isn't there yet. (And yes, not all of them need to be able to connect and interact on the same level of details as with the others, as they are different tools.)

@BeAware Also would love one account to rule them all, but it doesn't seem to be the case, as they all interlink and inter operate in different ways. Trying to see which can do the most and in the best way.

Did some basic testing.

  1. Curious about the abilities / limitations of the software tools.

  2. Found that media-focused* and aggregator** tools can post out to other tools, but can't follow them in return.

  3. Non-media-focused** tools can follow basically anyone, but can't post to media-focused / aggregator apps.
