[3/3] … can't afford good lawyers. But the corrupter is not at risk for this: he is a white male, and even if he may theoretically be bankrupt due to court judgments, still has good lawyers.

@rms he wouldn't even be considering it, if the democrats currently in power, hadn't already used the justice system as a weapon against their rivals. Im sure the pay back won't be pleasant, but it is most assuredly deserved. Hopefully once it happens, and people on both sides see how destructive it is, nobody will overlook their own side doing it ever again.

"Crippling" drought in Zambia threatens hunger for millions, says minister. This is climate mayhem. We may be able to slow it and stop it, but first we need to adopt a plan adequate to fully do the job.

@rms If a drought and famine in Africa are climate mayhem then we've been having climate mayhem throughout the history of the world. There is NOTHING new or unusual about it and probably little that can be done about it. But you are welcome to throw as much of your money as you want at government and see if it helps.

Governor Sununu, Republican, proudly told America he would swallow any lie in order to make a Republican the next president. "Grab power" is all that the Republican Party stands for how -- that and intimidating mainstream organizations that might dare to condemn those lies,

[3/3] … form of fighting violent fascists, but basically it is nonviolent resistance against fascists. Right-wing disinformation in the US portrayed Antifa a few years ago as a violent movement, which it was not.

Phil ,

@rms if destroying property isn't violence, and if stabbings and throwing hard objects at people aren't violence, then Antifa wasn't violent and just work masks for fun. If course that's a completely retarded take.

https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2024/mar/31/exxonmobil-accused-of-greenwashing-over-carbon-capture-plan-it-failed-to-invest-in

Exxon boasted about a supposed carbon-capture system which it never actually started to build. The mere idea of it was basis enough to produce the results Exxon wanted — to reduce public pressure to reduce fossil fuel extraction and combustion.

Phil ,

@rms well only a masochist would want extraction and combustion reduced or eliminated, before there is a viable alternative. If the public really wants this, all they have to do is stop using electricity, stop heating and cooling their homes, and stop traveling. If demand dissappears, oil companies will become irrelevant. Asking them to stop meeting demand is absurd, it would kill some and destroy the lives of others. Its just vacuous virtue signaling that should be ignored by those using it.
