Undersea gas pipeline ruptures off the Victorian coast.

A at an ageing gas platform off the Victorian coast has reportedly with a visible sheen on the ocean’s surface.

The rupture is believed to have occurred at 1pm on Saturday with the Kingfish West gas platform that sits off the coast between Victoria and Tasmania.

Kingfish West is operated by , a subsidiary of , which has been working to the ageing platform by leaving it in place.

The Australian Workers Union warned in September 2022 that the company was “ ” in how it was planning to deal with the infrastructure.
