The first book I’m reading for Pride Month is Delilah Green Doesn’t Care by Ashley Herring Blake.

@infinitesoleil @bookstodon I read that fairly recently. I enjoyed it! Hope you do as well.

New review: Imperfection is a quick, slick, yet erudite read that posits six laws to explain how evolution by natural selection does not always result in the best of all possible worlds.

@n0madz @Subumbral @Da_Gut @bookstodon the books set in the World of the White Rat (Clocktaur being one such) are my favorites of everything she's written. Swordheart is so much fun! And yeah, Hollow Places is a slow burn horror. I actually didn't get hit with how terrifying it was until like two days after reading it; then I couldn't sleep for days.

@n0madz @Da_Gut @Subumbral @bookstodon I look at it in terms of quality rather than length. And Kingfisher produces such consistently excellent, and very re-readable, stories, that I'm okay with paying more for a short book. If I can reread it more than three times and still love it, that's worth paying top dollar for. Also, she's gotta eat, too. But you'll never hear me speak against library loans!

The winners of the Philip K Dick Awards are announced tonight. My book, "Where Rivers Go To Die" was a finalist but didn't win.
Congrats to the winner Bethany Jacobs, "These Burning Stars", and the runner up, Rebekah Bergman, "The Museum of Human History"

Well, I've now been listed 13 times for 9 different awards, without winning any! I'm getting used to it, maybe setting some kind of record of most nominations without winning.

@dilmandila @bookstodon that is amazing! Being listed that many times really is an accomplishment to be proud of. Never mind winning. Your name is becoming Known. That matters so much!

I’ve just finished this very enjoyable, pan-historical garden fantasy (is garden fantasy a genre? It is now!), ‘Threading the Labyrinth’ by Tiffani Angus.

In reading books on thanatology, pathology etc. a follow-on activity is to google* a cool-sounding word or term to see if there's a Death Metal band named after it ... so far there always has been 😄 💀

*I say "Google" but I generally use Ecosia

@AndyPaciorekArt @bookstodon... I never heard of ecosia before. Just went and looked them up and... I'm underwhelmed. It looks like it's just Google/Bing with a cover coat. Please tell me if I'm wrong? I'd surely love an alternative to Google...

Hey bookish folks, I'd love your help! How do you find new-to-you books to read?

I'm trying to figure out where to advertise my books now that I have a fourth book out ( https://buy.bookfunnel.com/vxvlyi6b0v ). I'm rather unknown so can't spend big $$ but it's hard to know where is best to find readers. And yet, it's hard to have a budget without readers, too!

@mizerek @skaeth @bookstodon @sffbookclub @fantasy I do something similar but a bit more expensive, I create 1st chapter booklets w/ "where to buy" info to hand out at events (sff conventions, in my case). Those also go into any product I ship. (I run a small bookstore, but this applies even if you're mailing your own books.) Depending on how you produce the booklets, it can be cost effective over time. Sometimes I give a discount on the full book if people bring back the booklet in good shape!

@mizerek @skaeth @bookstodon @sffbookclub @fantasy huh. Interesting. To me it's basic marketing.

@skaeth @mizerek @bookstodon @sffbookclub @fantasy yes, I'm much better at in person. I'm terrible at online.
